Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup golden raisins

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the shortening, brown sugar and white sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs, one at a time then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour baking soda and salt, stir into the creamed mixture along with the ketchup. Fold in the walnuts and raisins last. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheets.
  3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
