I have to agree with the review from 8/30/09. I also followed the directions and it was very greasy - definitely could not cover a cake with it. I attempted 2 more times adjusting the recipe and increasing the powdered sugar but was still a failed attempt. It tasted awesome, but...

I followed the directions exactly and the fondant came out very greasy, so I tried it again and it came out the same way. I added more confectioner sugar (about another two pounds) but it never thicken up. This recipe is easy to make, but it didn’t come out like it should. I do not know what others (that love this recipe) are doing different, but I would like to know their secret. I gave it two stars because even though it didn't come out right (after trying twice) it still tastes nice!

My first time ever using Fondant and this worked beautifully. It was easy to use. I used the 1 cup stick of butter flavored crisco. It wasn't greasy at all.

i think this fondant is really good. it needs a lot more sugar though, because if you dont it is soggy. other than that it turns out very well and it is easy to work with. your guests will be amazed and it is very stunning fondant :)

This was my first time making fondant and it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. This is a great recipe that is easy and tastes great! Like a lot of people I added more powdered sugar until it was the right consistency.

This is tough-it was my first crack at making fondant. The recipe was easy enough to follow. However, the final product was very greasy. I didnt like the final shiny look...it made me uneasy. The taste was ok but the final outcome was mediocre. It cracked alot when rolling. I'm glad a made a test cake first! I will most likey find a different fondant recipe for the final birthday cake. Maybe it just takes practice.

This was my first time working with fondant and it was great! if it ever got to stiff from the powdered sugar that I was dusting it with I just added a drop or two of cornsyrup and kneaded it in.

I love that this recipe doesn't require the gelatin that many do; I wanted to make my own to avoid the gelatin in many storebought brands, so it's great to find such a wonderful recipe that does exclude that ingredient! Thank you!

This was my first time to make any kind of fondant. It was very greasy and I was a little disappointed about that. But it looks pretty good.

I did not care for this receipe. I am making a Thomas the Train cake for my nephews birthday and it was incredibly greasy and I was not able to work with it. I kept adding sugar and it just fell apart. It would not hold it's shape and when I rolled it out to put on the cake it just fell apart complete. I would not recommend this receipe to anyone.

This fondant is so incredibly easy to work with! I had never made fondant before (I'm huge on buttercream) but I figured I'd give it a shot. I did have to use more confectioner's sugar than called for, but I'm pretty sure that's because I had to add so much food coloring to get my fondant really black. Oh, and I did add 1 tsp of liquid butter flavor. It added SO MUCH to the taste! Wasn't chalky in the slightest! It really did taste like buttercream, which is what I was aiming for. Very, very easy to work with!

I used this to make my sons birthday cake and it tasted good, but the product seems greasier looking than what fondant should look like. I will be trying a different fondant recipe next time I tackle making fondant. It was not what I expected.

This was easy to make and easy to work with... but it was WAY too sweet to eat! I use it for making figurines, etc. for decorating, but wouldn't cover the whole cake in it, or no one will be able to eat it!

I made this using the "dough" setting on my breadmaker. I added the ingredients in by liquids first and sugar last and let the machine do the kneading for me. I had to add a tiny bit more vanilla because it was too dry for my machine to knead it into a smooth ball. It tastes wonderful!
