I buy whole chickens all of the time mostly to cook and use in casseroles. So this was my first venture into roasting with seasonings. I grew up on bland food it is nice to have some flavor instead of being boring. I used 1/4 cup bottled lemon juice and 1 TBS of Lemon pepper insted of juice of 2 lemons and kepted everything else the same. Very Good. Thanks for posting!

Absolutely fabulous! This is the first roasted chicken I have ever made and it is soooooo good. My husband loved it also! The only ingredient I was missing was mustard powder but it was great even without it. Thank you so much Barbara! :)

This recipe gets five stars the first night & three the next. I got a Perdue (big) chicken so doubled the ingredients. If you double it, don't double the oil. It was very oily. I used 1/2cup lemon juice for the juice of 2 lemons & coarse ground black pepper. I also let the remaining (after rubbing some inside) dried spices sit in the lemon juice to rehydrate then whisked in the oil & used a pastry brush to apply it. It smelled great & tasted good. I wish I could have eaten more the first night.

This was a GREAT recipe. Our family really loved the flavor and how tender it turned out. I put the seasonings on after the lemon/oil mixture instead of before as directed, and let it roast for a while before basting. That really sealed in the flavors and made the skin nice and crispy.

I thought this was a pretty amazing recipe! This was my first experience cooking a whole chicken. The seasoning is delicious! The only thing I will do different next time is to let it cook awhile before I re-baste it, to let the spices "crust" on the chicken so they don't wash off (if that made sense).

Very good. Very easy. After squeezing the fresh lemons, I stuffed the remaining peels into the cavity of the chicken. Used the carcass and giblets/neck to make a wonderful chicken broth.

I have made this recipe a couple of times. It tastes fantastic. My whole family likes it. The chicken stays moist and tender. The reason I gave it four stars rather than five is that when I drizzle the lemon/olive oil mixture over the chicken I find the spice mixture washes off. I then have to scoop it up from the bottom of the pan and put it back on.

This was really yummy! I usually make my roast chicken similar to this, but decied to actually use a recipe. I omitted the mustard powder, because it just didn't seem to fit. I used about 1/2 can low-sodium chicken broth to baste the chicken as it was cooking. Great flavor!

The chicken was moist and aromatic but I was not a huge fan of the flavor. It seemed to be laking "something." I followed the recipe to a T but added fresh Rosemary and fresh Thyme to the rub. I also stuffed the bird with the lemon halves and some fresh herbs. Overall it was good but not great.

Mmmmmm! I had over a 4 lb bird so I doubled the spices, and I used half lemon, half lime juice. I also basted with chicken broth every 20 minutes or so. Great recipe!

This was great!! I think my chicken was a little bigger than normal, so it took an extra 30 minutes to cook, but, was juicy, and flavorful..my boyfriend said it was the best chicken he had ever had! Great recipe!!
