I didnt know soup could be so easy and tasty! Definately a soup that you would buy in a higher end restraunt. I didnt seed or peel the tomatoes. I added 2 tsp pepper, 1/2 tsp salt and 1 tsp garlic powder when doubling the recipe. Also used about 12 leaves of basil seeing they were pretty large leaves. Any more would have been overpowering. Made with classic grilled cheese sandwiches!!

This was the worst thing I've ever had in my life. It used a lot of basil leaves and I had to keep adding heavy cream and butter thinking that would help the flavor, but it never did. Sorry, but this didn't work for me. Maybe I did something wrong...

OH MY - AN AWESOME RECIPE!! I recently made this soup and took it to a church function. It was a hit, everyone wanted the recipe. The only change I made was I used canned whole tomatoes instead of fresh tomatoes as tomatoes were out of season.

This soup is sooo good! It reminded me of the soup at La Madeline resturant - but didn't cost nearly as much. The only change I made was to double the amount of basil.

This recipe is great for quick and easy soup, it is delicious, but I suggest starting with 1/2 cup of the cream and adding the other 1/2 cup as needed. I thought the soup was too creamy with a full cup of cream. I also add garlic powder and ground red pepper for flavor - delicious!

This soup was rich and delicious, and definitely more a bisque than a soup. The cream and butter are fantastic but next time I'll leave those out--the tomato and basil combination on its own was divine!

Pretty bland on flavor. Used frozen Roma tomatoes from my garden so shouldn't have lacked tomato flavor. I added a Tbls of chicken base and a little onion powder to give it more flavor. Not the best I have had, but good.

Important note for beginners: cool the soup before placing it in the blender or split it into batches. Otherwise, a solid recipe, but not the best tomato soup I've ever had.

Absolutely delicious, I used tons of fresh basil and halved the butter and cream to make it a tad healthier - still really good! I served it with grilled cheese sandos :)

very good. Next time I will cut down on the butter and will not add any salt. The tomato juice and canned tomatoes already had a lot of salt already. I used homemade canned tomatoes too.

Hubby and I really enjoyed this with our wraps and it made for a light, but satisfying meal. I blanched the tomatoes for about 30 seconds to remove the peel, but didn't bother with seeding them. And my trusty little immersion blender made quick work of pureeing this soup. Because this calls for fresh tomatoes, only the reddest and ripest should be used for best flavor. If those aren't available, it would be better to substitute canned. I made half the recipe, which was just right for the two of us (considering that hubby liked this so much he had himself a second bowl full!)

Delicious, even better than La madeleine's. I only used half of the butter called for and it was still very creamy. Thank you.

Very good soup. I did make it lower fat, so I am sure it would be even better if I had used heavy cream and tons of butter. Instead, I followed the directions, but put in less butter and used fat free half and half. The result was very good and something my entire family liked. It made me feel even better to serve it to them, knowing I had cut a lot of the fat. Yummy soup!
