How to Cut Onions

Original recipe makes 6 servings Change Servings

12 ounces penne pasta
1 (3.5 ounce) link Italian sausage, sliced
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced

1 (14.5 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
1/2 cup half-and-half
2 tablespoons shredded Cheddar cheese

Directions

In a large pot cook penne pasta in boiling salted water until al dente. Drain well.
Meanwhile, remove casings from sausage. In a large skillet cook the sliced Italian sausage until brown. Drain excess grease with paper towels. Add chopped onion, minced garlic, and stewed tomatoes to sausage skillet. Bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat and add the half-n-half cream. Cook until heated through.
In a large bowl toss the sausage sauce with cooked and drained pasta. Serve with shredded Cheddar cheese.

We liked this; similar to a recipe I have which adds cream cheese instead of half-and-half. I prefer the cream cheese, but this was good too. Probably would add another can of tomatoes to have more sauce, or a can of crushed tomatoes.

Maybe this would be better if I used sour cream or cream cheese along with a little half-n-half. I certainly used much more cheddar cheese. 2 tablespoons, that can't be right!

I thought this recipe was great. I used cream cheese instead of half and half and crushed tomatoes because I didn't have stewed. I will be making this again!

Great, easy recipe! I added a little salt, pepper, and oregano to the sauce near the end to perk up the flavour. Will make again!

I loved this recipe. I used 2 links like earlier reviewers and had to substitute sour cream for the Half and Half. Great flavor and the kids loved it. Will make again.

Wow, the kids keep asking if we can have it again. I used the non- link italian pork and it worked wonderfully. The grown ups enjoyed the meal and lack of complaints from the peanut gallery.
