While this was decadently wonderful, I don't think it would be any less wonderful if you cut back on the sour cream by at least a half a cup, reduced the butter by half, and eliminated the salt. And since it does taste like a baked potato swimming in sour cream, why not add some freshly chopped chives? With these modifications, I might not feel so guilty making this more often.

I had a small dinner party and this was the hit of the night. Delicious recipe. I am not crazy about onions so I just added a little bit of minced onions plus garlic salt for flavor. Very good! I will definitely be making this again.

I use O'brian potatoes with the onion, red and green pepper already in it. I also use mushroom soup instead of chicken. The cheddar to me seems to have enough oil that I don't even use butter. I use crispy onion in the can for the topping which I add at the end. I guess I use my own recipe lol, its good too.

I brought it to a little kids party and it was gone in seconds. I did not even had a chance to try it. Everyone said that the Casserole was VERY DELICIOUS! I will definitely make it for myself again. Thank you for the recipe! P.S. I added some corn flakes on the top, because my kids love crunchy food.

This was awesome. It was sooo easy to make. I did substitue frozen shredded hash browns for the cooked potatoes. I followed the recipes exactly except for that. I made them a day ahead of time for a party and cooked them for 1 hour at 350. Everybody raved about them. Thanks for the recipe. I will be using this again and again.

I served this at Christmas and the family loved it. I think I'll cut back on the cheese next time, though.

These potatoes are very good. I will be making them again. I did add bacon as suggested by another reviewer. I think that next time I may try leaving the butter out completely...definatley will not add the additional tablespoon to the top. I think to save time there would be no reason to substitute frozen hash brown potatoes...just as a time save.

Wow! This was absolutely delicious! I made a few changes: I used 1 cup of sour cream and 1 cup of heavy cream since I don't like for the taste of sour cream to overpower my potatoes. I also used extra green onions - about 5 or 6 because I love the flavor. I didn't bother topping the casserole with any butter...I mixed together some shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled cooked turkey bacon, and put the cooked casserole under the broiler for a few minutes to melt the cheese on top. This dish is very, very good. I cooked mine for about 35 minutes just like the directions say. This is a knockout! Thanks SO MUCH for sharing!

This recipe was a good idea, but way too many onions. I would recommend 1/2 of an onion. Perhaps adding bacon to the recipe would add some flavor.

This is almost identical to a recipe I've made for years - only difference is I use 8 potatoes instead of 6 and 6 Tbls. butter, divided, instead of 4. I also use a few more green onions - more like 5 or 6. When casserole is done, just to make it extra yummy (and death-defying, as well!) sometimes I'll add more grated cheese on the top, along with crumbled bacon, and run it back in the oven for a couple of minutes, just long enough to melt the cheese. Served this with beef tenderloin the other night to some overnight guests and they couldn't quit eating it. One of our guests, a gentlemen from New York, requested it for breakfast the next morning and was thrilled when I complied with his request - said he wished I could slip some in a tote bag to take back to New York with him. This is a great recipe, one that tastes even better if made in advance. Glad you submitted it, Mary!

This was quite delicious. Even my VERY selective 15 year old had 3rds. It tastes exactly like Potatoe Kugel. So glad to see a creamy casserole recipe that is made from fresh ingedients. Hard to find creamy casseroles without creamy canned soups (I like to stay away from MSG)...frozen ingredients. Mmmmm..mmm good!
