I cut this recipe in half and it was plenty to frost a two layer 9" cake. The frosting was really, really rich--duh, as indicated by the title. Next time, I may use this to just use in between layers, but to frost an entire cake with it was just a bit much. Also, it didn't seem to pipe very well, but I could have added to much milk. Still very, very good!

I really loved this recipe! I scaled it to 8 for an 8x11 pan of brownies and there was plenty. It was rich but not sickly sweet, and super easy to spread .

Made it it exactly as written (just halved the recipe) and it is the best chocolate frosting I have ever eaten. It is delicious with Black Magic Cake from this site.

Excellent! I scaled this down to half and used some Bailey's in place of half of the milk. Delicious! Everybody raved about it!

I made this recipe to put on Chocolate Zucchini Cake III from this site. It tasted great! I ran out of cocoa so I used double Nesquik Chocolate Milk Mix powder to substitute. I also used a brick of Margarine in stead of butter. I found I could still pipe this frosting really well.

excellent! i took one reviewer's suggestion and added a 2-3 extra tbsp of milk to make it easier to spread. i halved the recipe and had enough frosting to ice the sides of a 2 layer cake and 12 cupcakes and have a ton leftover.

Sweet and chocolatey without being excessively rich. Add a touch of salt (or use salted butter) and this recipe is perfect! As others have said, halve the recipe to get more than enough for a 9" layer cake.

This is the best chocolate frosting I have ever had. I made a half recipe and had plenty to generously frost 2 dozen cupcakes. It was really easy to make too.

I frosted my dad's birthday cake with this and it was perfect. Dip a metal offset spatula in warm water before spreading the frosting to get a smooth finish without ripping the top of the cake off.

Very good. It makes a lot, even if you half it. But this has to be my favorite frosting.

Absolutely delicious! I halved the recipe and frosted 36 cupcakes with it and still had a lot left over. Makes a lot of frosting. But it is so good!

One of the most delicious frostings I have ever tried. It was almost like fudge. I used chocolate milk instead of white, and it was great!

Mm! This is a dark chocolate-y icing that is stiff enough to pipe right out of the fridge, but creamy enough to spread directly on cake. Well done! I'll be using it on chocolate cake from now on!

I needed a frosting that would hold up in 80 degree temps and this did so beautifully! It was delecious and very chocolatey. I made it the night before and put it in the fridge overnight. When I went to use it, it needed to be beat again. It piped beautifully and was very good!

Excellent frosting recipe! I gave it four stars because I used heavy cream instead of milk. I think that made a big difference in how creamy it is. As a side note, I think that you should use more cream/milk than you initially think you should. The more I added the better it got!
