This was awesome. I used half the recipe for 2 dozen cupcakes. I added less milk because I was piping the frosting on in a swirl pattern and wanted it to hold it's shape. I will be making this again!

It was okay. I am surprised that it got such good reviews. It tastes like eating cocoa. Will keep looking for a good chocolate frosting recipe.

It just didn't live up to the reviews for me. I mean, all chocolate frosting is good and this one is no exception, but it wasn't that special for me.

Wonderful! I used a whole bag of powered sugar (7.5 Cups, if you don't want to measure) Plus 1 additional and thought it was the right amount of sweet. So 8.5 cups total. It was very tasty. Made this in my Kitchen Aid Artisan Stand Mixer. Worked wonderfully. Tons of compliments. Best Ever. This is my HG for Chocolate Frosting.

Good texture, but not chocolately enough for me. I halfed the recipe for two dozen cupcakes. Maybe halving it threw the ratios off, but I still used more cocoa than was required.

Delicious. The recipe said no substitutes, but I wanted it non-dairy, so I used margarine and soy milk instead of butter and milk. It is still creamy and light and chocolate-y and delicious. Thank you! :)

Awesome recipe! I didn't add the entire amount of milk as I wanted the frosting a bit thick.

This recipe makes a ton. I made it exactly as stated with the exception of using 1 3/4 c cocoa instead of the full amount. I used it on a bundt cake and I could easily frost 4 or 5 cakes with the amount this recipe calls for. Didn't care for the taste. My two young daughters wouldn't finish theirs as they didn't like the taste either and when a kid won't finish cake there is something wrong. The cake was awesome (One Bowl Chocolate Cake III)- too bad frosting wasn't. I like more of a milk chocolate flavor which may be why we didn't like it. Also -the butter mixed in with the powdered sugar and then the cocoa is hard to combine. Once the milk is added it is much easier to mix together. Oh well- onto the next frosting!

PHENOMENAL! I made a cake and used the filling recipe from "chocolate mousse cake" on this site. It was awful..so I made this and used it as the frosting. It saved the cake!!

The best chocolate frosting I have ever had!! You will see the cake I made in my photos. I needed a chocolate color for a teddy bear cake I made for my son's first birthday. It is the perfect consistency for piping and decorating, but even better...It is so GOOD!

I cut this recipe in half and it was plenty to frost a two layer 9" cake. The frosting was really, really rich--duh, as indicated by the title. Next time, I may use this to just use in between layers, but to frost an entire cake with it was just a bit much. Also, it didn't seem to pipe very well, but I could have added to much milk. Still very, very good!

I really loved this recipe! I scaled it to 8 for an 8x11 pan of brownies and there was plenty. It was rich but not sickly sweet, and super easy to spread .
