This frosting is superb! I have made it several times now. It has replaced my original chocolate frosting recipe. It's so good that when my father tried it, he declared it his new favorite frosting (his prior favorite was the buttercream recipe on the Domino confectioners sugar box).

This was my first try at chocolate frosting and this will probably become my standard for now on. Perfect. I didn't have to change a thing (though I did cut it in half, it was only for cupcakes).

Best chocoalate frosting EVER!!! Like some others, I cut the recipe in half for a 2 layer 9" round cake. I only substituted homogenized evaporated milk, used 10 Tbsp added 1 at a time as I was mixing in the sugar, and used salted butter. To the reviewer who said all her husband wanted for his birthday was a bowl of this frosting...I have to agree with him.

Really the best chocolate frosting I've ever made or eaten. It's very cocoa-y, which is its appeal and makes it important to use really good cocoa. Like others say, half the recipe for a two-layer 9 inch round cake.

This is so easy and fast to make and everyone loves it. Very adaptable for any minor changes you want to make. Today, instead of the vanilla, I substituted 2 tbsp of amaretto and made only half the recipe for a special birthday cake and it is so delicious.

I love this frosting and wouldn't change a thing about it. This is very simple to make, and has a really nice consitancy for piping. It's just the right balance of flavor: sweet, but not too sweet; chocolatey, but not too chocolatey. This will be the chocolate frosting I use on my cakes from here on out.

Put this on brownies. So good. Helped my brownies out- as I tend to overcook them. I use 1 1/2 cups chocolate instead of the 2 1/2. Perfect. Thanks

I didn't follow it exactly, but since I used it as a starting point, I'll still give it 5 stars. First, I followed another user's recommendation of halving the recipe (I made a 6 inch, two layer cake). I had everything but my sugar pre measured. I used 2 sticks of butter, added 1/4 cup of cocoa (I had 1 1/4 pre measured), 1/2 tsp vanilla, a little over 1/3 cup milk, and then poured the sugar in a little at a time as it was mixing. I'd say, overall, I used MAYBE 2 cups of powdered sugar. I tasted as I mixed, and it tasted wonderful already, so I stopped. Perhaps if I had used all of the ingredients, it only would have made more, but I didn't want to mess up something that was already so perfect! It's not super sweet, just the perfect creamy chocolaty frosting! So, if you follow it exactly and don't think it's perfect, don't be afraid to try again and stop when YOU think it is perfect.

This is the second best chocolate frosting I have ever tasted, and the best I have made. I halved the recipe, and it frosted my two layer 9 in cake with just a little left over. My picky father even said that it was really, really good. Will most certainly use again, thank you!

Certainly can't complain. Very creamy as promised, and very rich. Great flavor too. You only need a THIN layer of this!

This is very good. I cut the recipe in half. I ran out of confectioner's sugar at 4 cups instead of 4 1/2 cups, so mine may have been a bit more chocolaty. It is so creamy and my husband really liked it (I put it on his birthday cake). My kids really love it, too. But what we REALLY love about it is dipping bananas in the leftover frosting. THAT is delicious!!

This turned out so great! The recipe is very easy and is basically fool-proof. The only change I made was to use heavy cream instead of milk. I figured if I was going to die and go to heaven I may as well go fully loaded.

Delicious! Makes a ton of frosting so you can probably half it for just a regular cake!

I should have halved this recipe, there was so much left over even after a large dosing to my cake that I gave some to a neighbor. Great great frosting!
