I made a 12-serving version of this instead of 32 to frost about 30-40 cupcakes. This is absolutely delicious! I cut out 1/3 cup of the powdered sugar, and used 1/4 cup of heavy cream, and 1/4 cup of Kahlua for a thicker consistency, and richer, adult taste. I frosted "Too much chocolate cake" found on this website. Truly a winner!

So creamy and delicious. Only thing is that I cut the recipe in half and it still made a large amount. I am glad I didn't make the whole batch!

This frosting would have been good if it wasn't so buttery tasting. It leaves a funny aftertaste because of the butter. I made the recipe for 16 servings and it called for 2 sticks of butter, it would have been much better with only 1.

Absolutly perfect recipe! Switch out vanilla and some milk for Bailey's, eyeball measurements for smaller portions, slip on the milk and just add more sugar, it is so simple it is just impossible to screw up!

I love this frosting! I halved the recipe to use it for 12 cupcakes and had a lot left over. I put in slightly less sugar because I don't like things super sweet and used unsalted butter. yum :)

This is a fantastic chocolate frosting. I am a chocolate fanatic and this definitely answers the craving. I have some excellent chocolate cake recipes but so far I haven't found one that stands up to the flavor that this frosting delivers.

Turns out perfectly! I had to cut down the recipe quite a bit because it makes a ton! That was expected based on the amount of sugar involved though. I particularly liked this when I used it to frost some brownies topped with peanut butter then this frosting. Delicious!

The best chocolate frosting to go with David's yellow cake. It was a big hit. Gone in one day and I'm making another cake with it tomorrow.

Oh wow! I never like homemade chocolate frosting becuase it's just not chocolaty enough. This was sooo good! I used Ghirardelli Premium Baking Cocoa and only made 1/2 the batch for my cupcakes. I didn't use quite the full amount of milk since I wanted to decorate w/ it. I also added 1/4 cup of Mocha Almond Fudge International Delight liquid creamer. (I've made it w/o and it's just as good!)OH my goodness! The more you beat this, the creamier it gets and also increases in volume. This is also a nice crusting recipe. (Forms a crust when left out to sit but stays soft on the inside.) Cover when not using to prevent a crust from forming. :)

This is pretty tasty. I halved the recipe, and as other reviewers said, that was MORE than enough for a 9' two layer cake. I divided the recipe - adding chocolate to part (about 2/3) and leaving the rest white for piping. I found that I needed to add more vanilla extract to the whole recipe for flavor, and even using less sugar than called for, it was too sweet for me. I added a touch of almond extract to the chocolate mix, which added a nice touch (some sort of liquor would also be nice -but I didn't have on hand.) But this is a tasty icing. I put it on the Too Much Chocolate Cake - and we'll see tomorrow if everyone dies of sugar overload. :)

I made this according to the direction but added more cocoa powder for a more chocolatey flavor. This recipe reminds me of a chocolate butter cream as it is very fluffy and once it sits for about 5 minutes you can make is smooth and seamless if you place a piece of wax paper on the frosting and gently run your hand or butter knife over the frosting.

This turned out a little runny, I scaled this down to 8 servings, which made more than enough for a 9 by 13. I did 2 cups of powdered sugar instead of 2.5 cups, but the taste was outstanding! So, I didn't want to add the rest of the sugar. I will try whole milk next time, or something other than skim, and see if that makes a difference. This really is a great frosting though!

This recipe is the greatest!! My son and I whipped up a batch to frost some brownies in no time flat! We did cut the recipe in half and still had plenty left over after frosting a 9x13 pan of brownies.

I'm not a huge fan of chocolate anything or frosting for that matter BUT this is Very Very Very good, glossy and rich. I used half and half because we had no milk. I'm sure that added even more richness. 12 servings was more than enough for 2 8inch round. Highly recommended.
