Wow! So authentic!! I totally forgot to add the garlic, and I didn't have any fresh ginger root so I used powdered ginger instead. It turned out soo tasty with so many different flavors going on! But red lentils apparently cook much faster than brown ones, so it was a bit mushy. Next time I will serve it with a plain yogurt and basmati rice to cut the heat a bit. And I will shorten the cooking time of the lentils too. I'm looking forward to doing what another reviewer did and use veg. broth to water it down into a soup for leftovers:)

very good. Although I think you'd need more tomato. I reduced the amt of lentils by half but kept the tomatoes the same. I also sauteed cumin seeds with the onion and toward the end added some english peas. Yummy. This will be a part of our regular rotation.

WOW!! This recipe exceeded my expectations. My one and only complaint(easily remedied) is that it was not spicy enough for my taste. Instead of the traditional "curry" powder from the grocery store, I used garam masala powder and paste. So delicious, can't wait to make again.

This was really great ! I followed the recipe exactly and was so pleased with the results...I think next time I will add some more ginger root and maybe some more spices...I think it needed a little more kick, but I like my food spicy :)

This could be a good recipe except for the excessive tomato puree. It was not bad....just not particularly curry-ish.

Very simple, very good, very filling, very healthy. This recipe is awesome. I make it at least once a week! I usually serve it with some quinoa or brown rice.

This was good but it made soooo much! Should have frozen some but I got so sick of it after a week. Might make it again, but not for awhile.

Like many commenters here, I never leave reviews, but this dish was so good I had to! I used ghee instead of veggie oil, chopped instead of pureed tomatoes, red curry paste, and a hot curry powder to add spice - the results were delicious and healthy! This is an excellent recipe that could be easily modified to incorporate your fav veggies or legumes. Definitely have rice with it though, both for texture and for health (complete protein if you're a veg'n). P.S. I hadn't cooked lentils many times before, but they EXPAND! Use a bigger pot than you think you need because, as someone else pointed out, wet lentils stick to EVERYTHING

Fantastic. I changed the recipe slightly. I used ghee instead of vegetable oil. I omitted sugar and used coconut milk. I used cardomom, garam masala and tumeric/cumin blend for spices with the onion and three in some ginger and garlic as well. I added the coconut milk, a bit of lemon next and tossed all that with the lentils. delish! I suppose I also could have used a bit of stock and yogurt and that would have also worked well. I love curries and will continue to experiment with these.

I make a couple of changes: 3 TBS of RED curry paste (you really need the paste for this!), 2 TBS of curry powder. I also add some ground Cardamom and Garam Masala as well. I also put in some frozen peas at the end. It really tastes better if you carmalize the onions, but i dont always have time so i just saute them until tender, and it is still very good that way.

This was amazing! I followed the recipe almost exactly, but omitted the chili powder as my curry paste was already spicy enough for me. I hope to make this again soon!

I don't actually like legumes, and almost never cook them, so I had high hopes, but realistic expectations. This was great, and I didn't even have any curry paste! My husband was a very happy man.

This is fabulous. Very quick and easy! I followed the recipe, only substituting tomato sauce for the tomato puree. The puree would have made a nicer texture but this was still SOOOO good. Will definitely make again! Thank you!
