I did everything just like it said, except forgot about brushing it with egg. I love the dough, it is sooo easy to work with.

The kids request these more than anything else and love to help make them. We play with the fillings to suit our mood -- anything goes!

This crust was to DIE for!! I don't know what makes it so yummy but it was perfect! As for the filling, I was sketchy not using sauce since we are a sauce-loving family, but it was perfect! I offered warmed pasta sauce as a side.

This review is for the dough as I made my own filling (spinach, ricotta and mozzarella). The dough was easy to make and relatively easy to work with. After the calzones came out of the oven they were a bit hard, but they softened up to the right texture after a couple of minutes. A couple exploded on me but nothing too serious. All in all a good recipe.

These were so good! We have looked all over for a recipe like this. Both my husband and myself dislike the soggy versions that we seem to always get in restaurants. This was easy to make and better than eating out. I made the dough in my bread machine on the dough cycle and it turned out perfectly.

Basically I just use this recipe for the dough, which is GREAT! But then everyone in my family gets to add whatever kind of cheese and toppings they like. Everyone loved them, but the first time I made them everyone was a little weirded out by the fact their was no sauce on the calzone itself. But once they started eating, they got over it, I served some to dip in.

I only made the crust for this recipe - so I can't comment on the filling. The crust was great, crispy, soft, chewy... absolutely lovely. I will be adding it to my "go to" recipe file.

Wonderful recipe! This was my first time making calzones and they turned out fabulous! I used fresh mushrooms, ricotta and cheddar cheese for the filling. The basil leaves added the perfect touch. I folded one of the calzones (used the fork to press together the edges), poked it with a fork a few times and that one burst. The other one I folded the ends and sides up to the center and that worked beautifully. I liked the olive oil brush idea instead of the egg brush. These tasted amazing. I served them with pizza sauce and added a few mushrooms to the sauce. I may add sausage next time. The possibilities are endless. Thanks so much for sharing! 30 minutes was perfect for the amount of time to bake-delicious!!!

I had never made calzones before. The recipe was very simple to follow and my mates were impressed and asked for them to be made again.

This was an ok recipe. The dough seemed a bit 'yeasty' for me and maybe a tad salty. But it did roll out nicely and cooked well. Thanks for the recipe. :)

These were great! We put in green peppers instead of mushrooms, and it was fabulous. Next time I think I'll stuff it with more veggies.

Wow! I loved these. I did make a few adjustments. I doubled the yeast/dough mixture. I also used garlic olive oil which gave the dough a nice garlic flavor. I also mixed mozarella, parmesan, and cheddar into the ricotta blend. I used pepperoni in some and italian sausage in others. I also added some fresh mushrooms, onions and black olives in some (the kids don't like them). I also added a little sphagetti sauce to each one. When I rolled out the dough I decided to make them all a little thicker based on what my family likes. This gave them a wonderful thick crust. I made individual ones instead of two big ones. This way the family could have what they wanted in each of theirs. Don't forget to brush these with the egg...it makes them perfect. I also sprinkled a little bit of garlic powder on them before baking! These were a huge hit in my family. They were gone in a heart beat. I made a second batch today and I am freezing them so the family can have them whenever they want! Thank you for a no fail easy recipe! Awesome!

This was a great recipe! I used a provologne/mozzarella/cheddar mix because I wanted it more pizza like and it was really good. I also added olives and sun dried tomatoes. A keeper for our family!

Outstanding. Easy to make, but does take a little time. Only alterations I've made to this wonderful recipe is I add about 1.5-2 times the amount of ricotta and cheese. I also blend mozzarella, cheddar and parmesean, and add in cooked sausage on one, and pepperoni on the other. My whole family, even the little ones, love Calzone Night!!

This was a delicious recipe! I added some diced red peppers, diced ham, and used mozzarella cheese. I made 8 small calzones instead of 2 big ones. The crust was beautiful and even my kids loved them! We will definitely be making these again. It will be fun to experiment with different fillings.

The dough turned out great. The filling...was okay. I will make again but add some homegrown tomatoes or something to provide some juice and zing. Family preferred the BBQ chicken ones. Made breadsticks last night from the dough and those were fabulous!!
