i LOVED this recipe!! i can't seem to find a bottled ranch dressing without a strong buttermilk flavor and since this recipe didn't contain any buttermilk i loved it!! i only used 1/4 cup of mayo but kept everything else the same and it was wonderful!!

1) Change the mayo/sour cream/buttermilk to 1/2 cup mayo, 1/2 cup sour cream, 1/2 cup buttermilk, 2)Increase the garlic to 1/2 tsp., and 3) Add 1/2 tsp. vegetable oil (for consistency).

I added a teaspoon or so of worcestershire sauce for added flavor, and about 1/8 cup of milk to give this the consistency of a creamier, more liquidy dressing. I also used fresh parsley simply because I love the flavor of the fresh parsley from my garden... I never use dry anymore. This dressing is perfect with a garden salad. Yummy!

Perfection! This ranch dressing is delicious. I took the advice of other reviewers and swapped out 1/2 cup of mayo for 1/2 buttermilk. I didn't have onion powder so I didn't use it. This is absolutely delicious I agree with the others, I may never buy bottled dressing again! Great recipe, so glad I tried it!

I have never made ranch before and was wondering what went into it. I began making this in October. I have not bought bottled ranch since then! My 9 year old will not eat any other salad dressing now!

I didn't have chives or onion powder, so I increased garlic powder and dill. I made it just now and it is delicious! I'm sure it will be even better after it sits for 30 minutes or more. Very close to a bottled ranch, I think.

I'm giving this 3 stars, not because it wasn't good, but because I don't believe that this tastes like a true ranch dressing. The dill overpowers the other flavors but that is just my opinion. I did enjoy using the recipe as a dip for chips and pretzels. I will try it again with less dill next time to see if it's the flavor that I associate with ranch. Thanks!

THE BEST is the only way to rate this ranch dressing. No more store bought for this family - no more questionable preservatives either! I make it as stated except for doubling the dill - because we love the stronger dill taste. As is, still delicious, and that is how I make it for a group. Try adding a couple of tablespoons of salsa for a salsa ranch, or mix in the blender with some cilantro for another yummy variation!

The kids could not believe this wasn't from the package. I was thrilled that it had the great taste of Ranch with none of the chemicals in the packet. I diluted it quite a bit because I like thin dressing. I mixed it according to the recipe, then added plain milk til it was the consistency I wanted. Thanks!

I did really care for it. It's ok. For ranch I use buttermilk, mayo, and a ranch packet. I've work in the restaurant business for years and this is the way that two of the places I've work at make this dressing! It's gooood, thick, and simple.

This has the most amazing flavor! We never have onion powder around, so I add a little extra garlic powder. It's a little thick for a dressing, so when I want it for salad I add either milk or half and half. Sometimes mine gets a little salty, so I add a pinch of powdered sugar. Every time I make this it is eated almost instantly! Never will we buy ranch dressing again! Thank you so much for this recipe!

This was more of a dip consistancy instead of a salad dressing, you would need to do the buttermilk if you wanted it to be for salad dressing. The flavor was not what I was looking for either.

I thought this was one of the best ranch dressing recipes I have ever had. Definitely use buttermilk over sour cream to create a thin dressing that has tons of flavor!!!

Skipping the wet ingredients, this worked well in place of half a packet of ranch dressing mix which I did not have on hand.
