I don't buy ranch dressing anymore! This is a great recipe. I've made it using 1c buttermilk (or 1 TBSP white vinegar and enough milk to make 1 cup) to it to make it thinner, and it turned out great.

So good and easy to make, love that I always have all the ingredients on hand. I don't like dressings that taste too much like mayo, so I used 1 cup sour cream and 1/2 cup mayo, and it turned out perfect! I used it to dip Boneless Buffalo Wings from this site, along with carrot sticks and bell pepper. Delicious!

Wow! This dressing is so good and so easy to make. Used it on the layered spinach salad from this site and it was divine. For a regular tossed salad, I would thin it a little with buttermilk. As is, it is perfect for dip and would work well as a sandwich spread too. Thanks!

Yum! My kids love ranch with everything, but I hate buying the stuff at the store, because it's got all kinds of additives and preservatives. This is a perfect replacement--better than the store-bought. The 1st time I made it, I did it w/ just the mayo and the sour cream. It was wonderful, but thick like a veggie dip. And, it definitely tasted better after a night in the fridge. The 2nd time, I did 1/2 cup each of mayo, sour cream, and buttermilk. Dressing perfection achieved! :) The 2nd time, I did 1/2 tsp. of the garlic and onion powders (instead of 1/4 tsp.). I liked it better that way (& it's easier for me to remember when it's 1/2 tsp. all around. Hahaha!). Great recipe with all the right herbs and flavors! Thank you!

Excellent Recipe! I did adjust a little based upon personal preference after the first batch, but did enjoy as written as well. My 2nd batch I used equal 1/2 cup measures of Mayo, Sour Cream and Buttermilk to make it a little thinner, and less dill weed (1/4 teaspoon) and more garlic powder (1/2 teaspoon) and added a teaspoon of Johnny’s Garlic Bread Seasoning (mostly more garlic and parmesan). My taste preference is more garlicky and a little less dill. This was a great home made alternative to the yucky bottled stuff or the expensive seasoning packets (Hidden Valley, etc.) that have stuff like MSG, and other chemical, preservative, fillers, etc. I won’t be buying store bought / premade seasoning ranch dressing again.

I HATE store bought ranch so I've been looking for one from scratch. THIS IS DEFINITELY IT! It tasted great right away- I can't wait to try it in a couple more days when the flavors have melded. I think I'm going to use the dry ingredients in small jars and give them (with directions) at Christmastime! I'll be using this for serving guests dips and dressings. Thanks for this great recipe!

This was really good!! And so fast and easy! I used light mayo and fat free sour cream and we still loved it. The flavor was definitely better after sitting overnight. I'm going to mix up a batch of the dried spices and store in a bag so I can make it in a hurry. Thank you Dawnia!

I used homemade buttermilk (2% milk and vinegar) instead of the sour cream to make the dressing thinner. I like mine thin because I use less which means less calories.

So far this recipe has come very close to a restaurant recipe I have been trying to figure out. Very refreshing. However, do not be lazy like me and throw it in the blender. It will come out runny.

Loved it! Our family tried Uncle Dan's for Easter. We liked it so much more than Ranch bought dressing. I had to find a recipe to match and this was it. I love the dill flavor. It's soo much more than a ranch dressing and I would'nt change a thing. Thank you !

Excellent replacement for the powdered packets. It's much cheaper and there's no preservatives or garbage going into it. I used this to make beer dip and it came out fantastic.

This was tragic. Ranch dressing doesn't have dill in it. I thought that I was perhaps confused, so I tried it and it was terrible. I had to add huge amounts of garlic an onion powder to get it to taste like anything. Not what I ws looking for at all!

I am NEVER buying ranch dressing ever again! This is the best! I also added some oil as others recommended, and that cut down the mayo taste. WONDERFUL!

One of the most satisfying things about this recipe is when someone says, "That's homemade, isn't it?" Even if you look at it as a bunch of dried spices, it doesn't taste like it came out of a bottle, or one of those little packets. Yea!

Very thick, and very good. I cut the recipe in half. I did a combo of 1/4 c. of mayo, 1/4 c. of sour cream and 1/4 c. of buttermilk. I also added 1/4 tsp. of ground mustard and 1/2 tsp. of sugar. I had fresh chives so I used that in place of dried. A nice change from bottled dressing.
