Ran out of the ranch mix, so threw this together in a pinch. I didn't have dried chives, used 2 fresh chopped green onions instead. Very good.

Great recipe...unbelievably better than the Ranch you get in the supermarket...and really easy. Have tried it with non-fat sour cream as well as reduced-fat. Both were good. Also tried it with reduced fat mayo and no mayo. Same results...very tasty. Best to let it rest for an hour or so before serving. Very very good...thanks!

I just needed the flavoring in place of a packet of dry ranch dressing mix. It was for a corn salad and this was so much better! I used fresh chives, dill and parsley because the herb garden is really full and it tasted great!

YUM!!! We tried this recipe and it was great! We decreased the dill slightly and added a bit more chives. Also, we added an additional each ingredient when we added milk to thin it to our desired consistency. SO GRATEFUL WE FOUND THIS RECIPE!!!!!! We've already passed it on to our friends!!!!! Thanks Again!

I really enjoyed this recipe, it thick, so it made a great veggie dip too! I tweaked it a little with a little more chives, parsley and garlic powder, but it's great "as is". I will make this again, and so will everyone I gave the recipe to!!

I gave this recipe 4 stars because of the modification I made, but the result was the best ranch dressing I've ever tasted. I considered the modifications of other members and used the following: Added 1 tsp Olive Oil Added 1/4 cup grated parmesan Added 1 TSP white wine vinegar (it was flat without this addition) Doubled the herbs and spices Used 1/2 cup each mayo, sour cream, buttermilk Added 1TBSP lemon juice With these modification, the dressing was wonderful. I won't use store bought again.

This is a very good dressing. Like many others, I found it mild. Some reviewers commented that a touch of vinegar was a good tweak to this recipe. I tried that, but the flavor was unbalanced. To salvage the dressing, I added a bit of sugar. Very good result.

I received RAVE reviews for this dressing. I tweaked it just a bit by adding fresh chives and some buttermilk to make it a bit more creamy. This will become a staple in my house! Thanks.

Excellent recipe and a giant leap from the funky, chemical taste of bottled dressing. I used the 1/2 c. mayo, 1/2 c. s.cream, 1/2 c. buttermilk formula that other reviewers had success with and it was still a little on the thick side for salad dressing but the perfect dip consistency (think Buffalo wings & celery!). Of course, it can be thinned with add'l buttermilk or olive oil. I used it as part of the Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabob recipe posted on this site as well as on a garden salad and it was wonderful for both. Thanks!!!

The recipe was good, but I also added a 1/2 cup of buttermilk. It seemed a little bland so I added a 1/2 tsp each of the spices and it still seemed a little bland. I then added some lemon pepper seasoning and that was exactly what it needed. A good base recipe, but since I had to add ingredients it only gets 4 stars.

I needed a dressing in a hurry so rather than spend $10 in gas to go to the store, I made this one using fresh herbs from my herb garden. I used 1-1/2 TB chopped fine to substitute for the chives, parsley and dill. It was pretty thick, so I thinned it with some buttermilk. I did end up adding a touch of salt. Great recipe. Even my picky daughter and grandson LOVED it! They took the leftover dressing home. Today I'll make more, chop the herbs even finer and use less mayo and more buttermilk. I do make my own mayo for this type of recipe and I think I'll add garlic to the mayo being made and perhaps eliminate the garlic powder altogether. I never realized that dill was the mystery ingredient in ranch dressings that I could never identify. Thanks for this recipe. No more Hidden Valley for us!

I didn't have the chives for my first batch of this dressing and it was wonderful even without it. Nice flavor and creamy. It was hard to not eat it by the spoonful. I had to keep "tasting" it to make sure it was "OK"! Better flavor than the most popular bottled variety.

This is a very tasty recipe for ranch! I followed it except for substituting the following: Dried chives: chopped fresh green onions Onion Powder: 1 tbs dried onion flakes Up garlic powder from 1/4tsp to 1/2tsp (Left out the parsley) Best after it sits a day. YUM!
