I made this exactly as in the recipe and it came out pretty flat (about 1 inch), bland-it just tastes sweet (in fact too sweet with sugar and raisins). Texture is ok, not that moist. I didn't even bother with the icing after I realized it didn't come out as hoped.

made this for a friends retirement party because it is his favorite cake and I had never made a carrot cake before very moist but borderlining rubbery, so I made a second one and used country crock instead of straight vegtable oil and it turned out better

I gave this 5 stars because it is the best carrot cake we've had since I lost "Mary Lou's carrot cake" recipe from the Rowe's Family Cookbook. (Page was torn out. I still like that one better, but this is the best I've found since then.) The frosting here is excellent. Best we've ever had.

I did not make the cake from this recipe I just was not that ambitous. I was looking for a frosting for carrot cake and this one is it. Very tasty and easy. I received many compliments on it. Not to sweet and very creamy. Thank You!

Great carrot cake! Plenty of sweet cream cheese icing too. My son devoured his piece in a few bites and loved it. I savored mine and really enjoyed this cake as well. Not spicy, nice mellow flavor. I couldn't even taste the orange in the icing when the cake was iced, so if you're apprehensive about using it, don't be, it was perfect icing for the cake. Thanks!

First time making a carrot cake. My husband and his friend loved it! Our daughter (almost 2) gobbled up a chunk as well! I had one problem..my frosting wasn't thick enough...I think I should have added more powdered sugar (my fault not the recipe) GREAT FLAVOR! SIMPLE DIRECTIONS! MOIST CAKE!!!! PERFECT!!!!!

Wow! I haven't had such good cake in such a long time! It was so moist and fresh, i ate half of it myself. My whole family loved it, it was easy to make. Definately to be an all time favorite.

I made this for my son's first birthday, and while I didn't have any (I don't like raisins), he loved it. Also, my mother-in-law would have gobbled up the whole thing. She said it was very good.
