Fantastic! I substituted the Half and Half for 2% milke, added some flour and I had a perfect consistancy! I also chopped up some left over potatoes and onions.

This recipe was a great starter recipe.. I was having a craving for clam chowder and found this recipe. I could not wait the 6-8 hours though.. so i altered a little bit and just used 1 1/2 cans of the new england clam chowder, 2 cans of cream of potato and 1 can cream of celery, added only the pint of heavy whipping cream and some 2% milk..This turned out just perfect for me, and I didn't have to wait the 6-8 hours.. wonderful recipe Deena.. Thanks a bunch

As most of the other reviews stated--this one is "a keeper". I too added 3/4 of a bag of the frozen cubed hash browns and cut back on the half & half. The consistancy of the soup was nice and thick. My guests (from Mass) raved about the taste, however the way I made the recipe it was more of a cross between clam chowder and potato soup, then a true clam chowder--they said it didn't have enough of that "fishy" taste...personally, I think that is a compliment. I couldn't ask for an easier recipe with such a great flavor! Thx Deena

I made this, replacing the cream and half & half with evaporated milk, adding potatoes I had on hand, and using the rest of an onion I needed to use up. It was excellent. I stirred it every half hour or so, which I didn't mind, but I'll be trying it in a slow cooker. It was wonderful- if it's too thin, cook it down some more & it will thicken and get more rich. Yum! Easy!

My husband and I loved this clam chowder. It was so creamy and had a wonderful flavor. I would make this again in a heartbeat and the fact that you can prepare it in a slowcooker is even better.

I have made this before and it was good..but I changed some things...I used 3 cans Campbells chunky New England clam chowder,1 can cream of potato..added 1 can diced potatoes, 1 can corn..fried up some bacon..sauted some onion and threw those in...also added some old bay seasoning..used 3 cans of whole baby clams and 1 can minced clams...added juice from 2 cans...this makes alot of soup and it is so delicious..alot more thick and chunky then last time I made it..also used only a pint of half and half and omitted the heavy cream.Great!!

Not so great. I added celery and onion, and another can of clams and it still wasn't a great recipe. It was too thin, too sweet from the cream, and took too long to cook. I'll stick to canned calm chowder from now on. Or else eat out. =0)

Nice recipe, I added dry white wine and cubed potatoes, plus 1 cup of regular milk in place of 1 C 12 and 12 - still came out plenty thick.

I made this last night and served it in sourdough bread bowl -- fabulous! The only thing that I did differently was added a bit of butter for more flavor and omitted all the half/half and added a ½ pint of the heavy cream...otherwise it would have been way too thin (we prefer it on the thicker side!) Overall ~ it was great! Thanks!

My husband who is a picky clam chowder eater said this was the best. I followed the suggestions of adding more clams and potatoes and a little bit of onion. I served in the bread bowls recipe alsoon this site and the kids thought that was "cool". Will definately make again!

This was my first failed recipe from Allrecipes. I put it together before I left for work and 8 hours later when I got home, the chowder was burned. So dissapointing.

This is very good - although I did get a chuckle out of the title. Yes - this is quick & easy to prepare but it takes ALL DAY TO COOK! Maybe not so quick? :)) I added a larger can of clam chowder and used 1/2 the amt of half and half. It is very good but I think it tastes very "store-bought" (for lack of a better description). Some white wine might add more depth or I should have heeded others advice about adding some potatoes or perhaps even some shredded carrots for color. Overall - a very good recipe but I think it needs some playing around with to make it "perfect."

This was excellent! Thick and Creamy!! I used 2-20oz cans of whole clams and 1-6oz can of chopped clams including all the juice. I also added a whole bag of O'brian potatoes (frozen) which also gave the chowder some color from the red and green peppers. I seasoned it a little with Bookbinders seasoning. This is the BEST!

This recipe is delicious!!! I don't even like clam chowder ususally, but I loved this - and so did the rest of the family. I followed the recipe exactly as given. Will definitely make again! Will take this recipe with our family to the beach house. Will be a great alternative to standing in line at a local restaurant!!
