Not sure what all the great reviews are about. I found this to be so blah. It has no flavor and definately not near professional quality. I did follow the recipe exactly.

I've been making this frosting for years and without a recipe. I add about 1/4 tsp. almond extract and the flavor is wonderful. This is the frosting my mother always made, she never measured, just put 1 stick of butter in a bowl, added a little milk, enough powder sugar to thicken and about 1 tsp. vanilla.

This is finally the buttercream recipe I have been searching for! I used it on a birthday cake - the family loved it and asked for the recipe. It is easy and tastes delicious.

Very good!! However, is *very* sweet and only makes enough to frost maybe a dozen cupcakes. Make sure to double the recipe if you are making 24 cupcakes...

I followed the recipe to a T, and this icing was delicious. However, I decided to follow the advice of several reviewers and double the recipe for a two-layer cake, and I ended up with enough leftover icing to cover another entire cake.

I have made numerous icings before, and for some reason they turn out like a glaze or some other weird consistency. This icing is the best one so far. Its very simple (doesnt require heating or anything). I was about to resort to just buying store icing again after my failed attempts, but not anymore. thanks for sharing :)

This is such a delicious, quick, simple frosting! It definately salvaged some brownies that were nearly disastrous for me! It was just perfect frost a 9x13 inch pan of brownies. All I had on hand was salted butter, but in terms of taste and texture, it did not seem to make any difference.

Good, quick frosting, but this will really only frost an 8-inch, single layer cake--and just barely. I made the mistake of making it while the cake was still in the oven and it started to melt pretty quickly. I refrigerated it and it deflated. I tasted it right after making it and it was perfect, but after it deflated, it tasted really sweet. Still, I'd make it again if I'm in a hurry to eat a cake!

Great frosting recipe! I wasn't sure it was going to stand up against my "former" buttercream icing recipe, but it was a hit with myself and my husband who doesn't like overly sweet icing. My kids couldn't get enough of taste tasting for me--enough said. Awesome!

Love this icing! The best go-to icing recipe and tastes WAY better than the canned variety. I often add 1/2 t of lemon extract if I am using it on a citrus (orange or lemon), vanilla or berry flavored cake. Thank you!!

Really simple and delicious icing. I omit Amarula or Bailey's for the milk for a yummy adult twist.
