This is a spicier version of pumpkin pie. This recipe has been in our family for over 50 years and is always much enjoyed at holiday meals. The fresher your spices, the better this will taste! Serve with whipped topping, if desired.

The flavors of ginger and pumpkin mingle beautifully and the gingersnap cookie crust in this recipe adds a delightful crunch. This pie 's crust is filled to the brim with a sweet, spicy pumpkin mixture, and then baked for an hour and chilled. Serve with whipped cream sprinkled with candied ginger.

It tastes like you spent hours stirring and baking, but all the yummy ingredients -pumpkin, sugar, eggs, milk and spices -are simply blended in a bowl, and then poured into a pastry-lined pie shell. It bakes up golden and delicious.

First a rich pumpkin filling is made with brown sugar, eggs, evaporated milk, spices and pumpkin puree. It 's poured in the pie shell and baked. Then a brown sugar crumble studded with nuts and orange peel is put on top and bakes with the pie for the last ten minutes.
