These are awesome muffins. I doubled the batch both times and instead of 4 c sugar I used 2 c sugar and 1 1/2 c honey. Yum. In addition I added a little rolled oats and turbinado sugar to the top. This recipe will be used for years to come!

By far the best muffin's I have ever tasted! I changed a few things like others previously have. I used applesauce in place of the oil and cut all spice in half except for the cinnamon. I could not stop eating these especially hot and fresh out of the oven!!

Pretty good but found the spices to be too much and I even left out the allspice. I ground my own nutmeg and cloves, so perhaps the author's spices are less pungent. I might try one less egg next time as they were a tad chewier than I'd like.

Wow! These were phenomenal!!! The only spices I had were cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. I didn't measure, just kinda threw in what I thought would work. I also substituted half wheat flour, and applesauce for the oil (although it was a bit dry and I needed to add some oil at the end). Rave reviews from family and friends, I made a double batch and they were gone in a day! Fun to play with, easy to make (I used canned pumpkin), and pretty healthy (I also cut the sugar down to about 2/3 what the recipe called for). Great to freeze for winter breakfasts.

My husband loves all things pumpkin-flavored, but said the nutmeg and cinnamon overpowered the pumpkin in these. Next time I'll up the pumpkin and cut back on the spices. That said, these were still good, homey muffins.

This recipe definitely makes MORE than 12 muffins. I only had 1 egg on hand (and didn't miss the other 2 at all) and the recipe still made 17 muffins for me. It is definitely heavy on the spices, which I loved, but I would second others who said that if you would like it on the milder side, decrease the spices by about 1/4.

very good way to use up pumpkin. I made lots and froze them, added 1/2 tsp cardamom b/c I like the falvor and subbed apple for oil, then added 2T oil so the did not get rubbbery. Great recipe

I used the canned pumpkin mix that had all the spices, I also added the spices that it called for. Was worried it would turn out too spicy, but they were delicious.. My 2 yr old granddaughter loved them and so did her nursery class... Thanks for sharing the recipe....

These are fantastic and very versatile! I took some othes suggestions and these are the changes I made: applesauce for oil, 1 cup wheat flour, 1 cup white flour, 1 cup oats for the 3 cups flour, and a 15 oz. can of pumpkin instead of fresh. I was out of allspice so I couldn't use it, but I'm sure it would have been fine. I doubled the recipe and added chocolate chips to one half... delicious, moist, delicious!

I halved the spices and used canned pumpkin. Plenty of flavor and aroma. Enjoyed by all - most by our five year old. The recipe makes about 2 dozen muffins, not one as indicated.

These muffins are amazing! I used leftover canned pumpkin and underbaked by a few minutes to keep them nice and moist. I'll definitely be using these during the holidays. Note: I cut the recipe to a third (for just me and my husband), and it still made 8 reguar-size muffins. My mom made the original yield and got 24.

These were great! I used some uncarved halloween pumpkins and put them in a casserole dish with a little bit of water in the bottom and covered with foil. The skin rubbed right off after about an hour of baking. I made some substitutions to make it a little healthier as other reviewers did. Sub have of the veggie oil for applesauce as well as used two cups wheat flour and one cup regular. I found a splenda/sugar mix at the store which directed me to use half the amount asked for and they turned out perfectly! While they were good on their own I took the advice of another reviewer and made an oatmeal streusel for the top. Great recipe and fun to make!
