I would have to agree with other reviewers who have said that the taste was excellent but it turned out crumbly. The house did smell wonderful as it was baking and we were all drooling. LOL! I used 2 cups of granulated sugar and 1 cup of dark brown sugar. I think I may try decreasing the baking powder just a tad and the ground cloves maybe. It is a great recipe. It just need some minor adjustments.

Fantastic! Whole family loves it. I've made it twice now - once with pumpkin and once with organic canned butternut squash. Family loves it best when I toss in some chocolate chips :). I cut the sugar by about a cup and use 1/2 raw brown sugar and 1/2 white sugar. I also used half whole wheat pastry flour and half all-purpose. Added some vanilla extract. Subbed 1TBS pumpkin pie spice for all other spices. YUMMM!

Bread came out AWESOME! Very Moist with a crunchy outside. I made 4 mini loaves and cooked for the same time as 2 large. Will make again for sure :) An ultimate COMFORT food!

It sunk in the middle but that could have been due to my lack in baking skills. It was very moist and had a wonderful flavor. Big hit at holiday party!

Very good! Make certain you cream the butter and sugar for a full 3 minutes, the texture will change quite a lot from when you first combine them.

Shalomleka! (peace to you!) I added about 1/2 cup of shaved, bittersweet chocolate, about 2 tablespoons of honey, about 2 cups extra flower, 2 extra eggs, and used a mix of confectioner's sugar, brown sugar and granulated sugar. I hope everyone yields good results from this recipe. Thanks again Shirley Sober.

Wish I could give this recipe more stars! Perfect exactly as written--and I don't say that very often because I really love playing around with recipes! However, my daughters and I were baking on Christmas Eve and I asked my oldest to start on this recipe. I had intentions of changing things (like using half brown sugar) but forgot to mention the changes to my helper. By the time I realized, she had prepared the entire recipe exactly as directed. I am so glad she did! Perfect! The spices were just right with a melt-in-your-mouth texture that was pure yumminess!!! I am convinced there is no better Pumpkin Bread recipe out there. Thanks for sharing, Shirley!

Yum. Moist w/ great flavor. We ate some while it was still warm and it was good, but..... I have made this twice now and I recommend waiting to eat it until the next day. It gives the flavors more time to blend and the results are fantastic.

I've been making pumpkin bread for years, and this turned out to be a really good recipe. I was looking for an alternative to the traditional recipe which typically calls for 1 cup of oil. Next time I will cut down on the clove -- it is a bit overpowering and you can't taste the other spices (I prefer my pumpkin bread more "cinnamonie"). I added a mix of chocolate and butterscotch chips. Both were good, but next time I would add just one or the other.

BEST PUMPKIN BREAD EVER!!! I've been looking for a good recipe, and this is the one! Very moist! I don't even like pumpkin pie, but this bread is awesome! I had bought pumpkin pie filling instead of just canned pumpkins, so it added a nice flavor to it.

I kept reading that this bread was too crumbly, so, I took one of the posters advice and added an extra egg...bad idea. Although the bread was soft and warm on the outside, the middle couldn't cook all the way and left a doughy center. Next time, I will use 1/2 less flour instead of adding the extra egg.

OH MY GOODNESS! This is the most delicious recipe I have ever tasted. Of course there are those pumpkin breads that are so-so, you know just they are good, but not something I would consider "Delicous". Well, this recipe it SO AMAZING!! I love it and will no doubt be making it again and again! Even the extremely picky eaters in my family raved over it!! It is SO good!! Easy and JAW-DROPPINGLY delicous!! A must!

This is the best pumpkin bread I have ever made! Trust me I have made many. I cut this recipe in half because I only have 1 pan at the moment and it turned out perfect. I did use the same amount of cin but I used pumpkin pie seasoning instead of the nutmeg and clover. It turns out very moist. I read some reviews and some said it was more of a cake like bread. Mine turned out just like any other sweet bread I have made. Kids will gobble it up....I fed it to my pre-school Sunday school class and they loved it!

This bread is great! It was so quick and easy to put together, and the entire house smelled wonderful. I usually have to modify recipes like banana bread or zucchini bread by adding more spice, but this recipe already had the standard list of spices I usually add. I did add about a teaspoon of vanilla. My Fiance isn't a huge fan of pumpkin pie, so I made this for Thanksgiving as a sort of substitute. I'm planning to make it again at Christmas.
