I did the recipe as written, and after tasting the super thick batter, I knew that it was too sweet for my taste so I barely dusted them with the topping. Coming out of the oven, the muffins were a wonderful mix of apple and pumpkin pie flavor so I will most definitely make these again, but I will most definitely be cutting back on the sugar.

Excellent. The amount of batter perfectly fits a 6-jumbo muffin tin plus a 9" round cake pan. Bake both for 30 minutes.

Thank you for the recipe and all the useful advice from the reviewers. I did not have any pumpkin pie spice so I used the substitution provided by “boringmama.” I also decided to make it in a bunt pan and used to cooking suggestions of “chefjeff.” I put the streusel topping in the middle and drizzled a vanilla glaze on the top after baking. Of course, I also added some diced walnuts to the streusel topping, because I love nuts in just about anything. It was beautiful and yummy. Perfect for a weekend family treat.

I think this is one of the few recipes that i have ever given 5 stars. It was awesome. This is the first time i have made muffins too. For some reason i was thinking that pumpkin muffins sounded good so i went searching for recipes for it. This one was a little more exotic and i'm glad i made it. I was thinking "what would make these muffins even better". I didn't try this but maybe if you made some cream cheese frosting on the top after they come out of the oven would be very good i bet.

These were fabulous! To make them more healthy, use half whole wheat flour, cut the sugar to 1 1/2 cups using half brown, and substitute applesauce for most of the oil. Also, I found that they baked in under thirty minutes, so keep an eye on them.

I made this recipe into a bundt cake which turned out delicious. It baked for 45-50 minutes. The only change I made was to cut the sugar down. Everyone asked for the recipe and I will be making it again.

I've been making these with my mom for as long as I can remember, and they're a huge hit over here in Australia as well! I'm cooking my second batch right now since the first disappeared so fast!

These muffins are delicious! I used whole wheat flour and added a little apple juice because I didn't have enough apples. PERFECT! A KEEPER!

Awesome! Everyone thought I bought these. Very moist and the streusel topping really takes them up a level. Wouldn't change a thing!

I made this for a work breakfast party and everyone loved them. People even asked me to the recipe! I am not a huge pumpkin fan, but thought with this being the pumpkin season I would make something festive. I didn't change much, just added more pumpkin spice and apples and doubles the streusel recipe. But that was just a personal preferance because I like it extra sweet. I also made these the night before and they were still so moist and yummy the next day, I will make these again :)

These were really good - my kids LOVED them, and I made them without the streusel topping even. I upped the healthfulness a bit - used spelt flour instead of white, half brown sugar instead of all white, and I replaced the oil with the same amount of applesauce. They were super-moist, and even without the topping very yummy. We're trying to eat a lot more pumpkin in my house, and with this recipe I'm happy with the nutrition and the kids think they are getting a fabulous treat. What a deal!

Absolutely delicious! I used real pumpkin instead of canned, and went heavy on both the pumpkin and apple. For the topping I used brown sugar instead of white, and added some oatmeal. They came out perfect - moist and yummy!
