Yay! Finally a pulled pork recipe for the oven! These were a huge hit. I didn't have any apple juice so I substituted chicken broth. I first sprinkled the roast with salt and seared it in the cast iron dutch oven, then poured the sauce over and put it in the oven. When the pork was done I strained the juice, discarded the solids, then added all of the juice back to the pork. Delicious!
I did this in the crockpot and we found it to be extremely bland. It wasn't bad, it was just really boring. Nobody disliked it, everyone ate it. This recipe needs lots of spices and garlic. Also, I would recommend adding green chilies to the mix.
Delicious! I used a 3lb pork shoulder plus a pork tenderloin. I also added about 2 tsp of cumin and a doubled the chili powder to increase the heat a bit. I cooked this in the slow cooker for about 6 hours and it was perfect.
Great and tasty pork tacos. The best thing was that it was super easy to make...just put it in the oven and let it do the work! I used a chipotle cabbage slaw to top it off with and it tasted great with the pork.
This pulled pork was just simply AMAZING. I used a pork butt roast because it was what was on sale. I didn't have diced tomato with green chilies, so I used a can of diced tomatoes and chopped one deseeded jalapeno into the mix instead. I also added about a 1/2 teaspoon of ancho chili powder (because I just can't resist adding that flavor depth that plain old chili powder can't quite give).
I had a 4 1/2 pound roast that was fork tender after just 3 hours. I shredded the pork and added it directly back into the Dutch oven (without doing any straining). The onion and tomato bits melted right into the meat, and a good stir distributed the flavor throughout.
While this makes a great taco, it would also be delicious over rice.
This is so easy to make and a party favorite. It called for 3 1/2 hrs. of cooking, but if I had went the time called for it would have been to dry. I did a serving size for 20 and cooked in a gas oven. I will make this again we loved it. Served with red cabbage
loved it made it two different ways. First we made it the way it calls for and was awesome. Then we made it as a BBQ pulled pork and that was also awesome Thanks
