So good, and so easy. It really impresses people who don't know the recipe. I used Dove caramels and square pretzels. I'll try Rolos next time because the Dove caramel is softer and there's really just less of it. To me, turtles should have a thick chewy caramel, and Dove just doesn't provide that. The flavor of the chocolate, however, is superior. If using Dove, I would recommend only heating them for 2-3 minutes. That way, the caramel won't ooze out all over the place. Also, wait a couple minutes after you take them out of the oven before you put the caramel on. It will still be melty enough for the pecan to mush down and stick, but cut down on the caramel running out.

I had my 5 year old and 10 year old make them. They made a lot more than 20 in just a few minutes. We used rolo candies and waffle shaped pretzels. It could not have been easier and clean up was a snap. They are sweet and salty, a bit rich, and totally delicious! They keep well in the fridge and taste great cold

ok, i am NOT an experienced candy maker, and i'm a natural klutz, but even i managed to make these with a minimum of fuss, and they turned out terrific!!! i used Rolos, and the little square pretzels, and gave them away to the neighbors as Christmas tokens---they slipped and slid a bit on the parchment paper, but once they were boxed up they looked really nice, and tasted wonderful! thanks for a candy recipe that even *I* can manage!

I also used rolos and regular mini pretzels and these tasted good. I used cashews instead of pecans, I didn't toast them I just stuck them on top. I wanted these really caramel-y so I tried this with sugar babies first, it did not work at all. I would stick with a chocolately/caramely candy for the best results.

These are great and very easy to make. I used Dove Carmels and cooked them at 275 for 3 minutes. I found cooking them at a higher temp and longer just make the carmel run. Thanks for the recipe!!

Yes!! An easy candy recipe! You can use any tiny pretzel, doesn't have to be round. A rolo bag has 56 candies in it so make 56 of these things. And, if serving to anti-nut folks, put 3 m&m's on top instead of the pecan!

I couldn't find rolo so used Reisen dark choc cov caramel and they just fit on the Snaps. The pecan halves were really large so they were perfect. The only drawback was that the Reisen have too much caramel and they are a little hard to bite and chew. I have another bag of Reisen so I might cut them in half or find another way to mix pretzel, caramel and pecan into a cluster.

I made these last night using Doves and putting the pecans on before backing. I took them out at 3 min. and pressed the pecans slightly. Caramel came out of all of them. Are the rolos better to use or do they leak too?

They didn't turn out very pretty. So I was a little let down however they do taste good! If I took the time to drizzle some white or dark chocolate over top I'm sure that would jazz them up a bit.
