Awesome!! By far the best bread we have made in a machine...we love the sweetness, similar to the King's brand

I yielded this recipe to 12 servings. This called for about 2 1/1 teaspoons of yeast which is equivalent to one packet of yeast (1/4 oz)...I used the Fleischmann's (the yellow packet kind). The recipe said this was going to be sticky but it was overly sticky in my opinion...so I added another cup of bread flour. To make the bread a little more rich and sweeter, I read the previous reviews and added another yolk and increased the sugar by doubling the amount (it called for 1/3 so I added 2/3 of sugar). I didn't make this bread in a bread machine. Instead, I let the dough rise for two hours. Punched it down. Let the dough rise for another hour. Baked it in the oven for 40-45 minutes at 375*. Turned out crispy on the outside and a little doughy in the middle...perfect :) Thanks again!

Excellent recipe. My kids love the hawaiian bread from the grocery store, but it contains high fructose corn syrup. This is a great and cost effective alternative. Thanks for the recipe.

This taste really good, I accidently put in a 1/3 c. of margarine than the 2 tbsp that was asked for! It turned out fine, I didn't have a bread machine, so I did it the old fashioned way. I baked it at 400 for 16 minutes.

I don't have a bread machine, so I warm the milk and stir in the yeast and sugar and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then i put everything in my mixing bowl and mix, then knead, rise for an hour, put in pans, then bake...still working on temp/time. 9x5 pan 30 min at 350 was perfect. But larger pan was raw in center. THE BEST

I put this in the bread machine on the dough cycle, then made it into 12 dinner rolls, baking at 375 in a greased 13x9 baking pan for 14 minutes. They turned out so perfectly, you'd think I'd bought them at a bakery. They melt in your mouth and don't even need butter. The taste and texture remind me of Hawaiian bread.

For bread taste and quality I would give this five stars, but I too had trouble with the quantity in my 2lb bread machine. The first time I made it it cooked into the top. The next time I made it I reduced the portions from 12 to 8, and it was better, but still almost too much. Make sure to use the light setting. The crust is beautiful and flaky, almost like a croissant. Delicious!

No bread machine, just used my Kitchen Aid mixer. I proofed the yeast with the sugar and warm milk in the mixer bowl for ten minutes, added the egg and melted butter, then all the dry ingredients. This dough needed another half cup of flour, I just added it by leveled 1/4 cup until it formed into a ball and jumped on the bread hook. I kneaded it with the hook for about five minutes, then formed it into a ball and let it rise on my warm oven in a greased bowl, covered. Once it doubled, I thought I'd be creative and make a Cinnamon Swirl bread. I rolled it out into a long rectangle, then sprinkled brown sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon over the dough, then rolled it up. I made sure the edges were sealed and set it to rise on the warm oven in the loaf pan for another hour or so. I baked this for about a half hour or so in 350* oven, or until it smelled done. After that, I set out to make a batch just as recipe stated. Either way, it's a wonderful bread with just a touch of sweetness and richness. Very soft, close to a bakery bread in texture. Amazing bread. This one's a keeper, no matter which way I choose to use it. THREE DAYS LATER: I've now made this bread six times and we just can't get enough, either in cinnamon-swirl form or regular. Outstanding!

OH MY GOSH!! This bread is OUTSTANDING! I made this for the first time last night, and embarrassingly enough, my husband and I devoured it before it even cooled down! He begged me for another loaf, so as we speak, it's being made. I did put it in the oven 350 degrees for about 35 minutes (not 20 minutes)as suggested by other reviews, and it turned out beautifully. I brushed it with butter and let it get golden brown and am salivating just thinking about it!! LOVE THIS RECIPE!!!!

This bread was the first successful recipe I made in my bread maker. It was ultra airy and had a touch of sweetness. Tasted very similar to Hawaiian Sweet Bread (only not as sweet). It didn't slice very well, just kind of ripped in the middle. You would need extra thick slices (I'm talking 2+ inches or more) to prevent the bread from tearing. I think this might've served better as rolls rather than a loaf. I warmed my milk slightly in the microwave and melted the butter. I added the salt to the liquids followed by the dry ingredients and finally the yeast. I used all-purpose flour also. I put the machine on the "light" and "basic" settings (not "sweet bread") but that was by accident. The dough will look very wet...try to overcome the temptation to add more flour, it will be fine. The crust was a bit crunchy, so next time I will make a conscious effort to use the "sweet bread" setting. The bread is really good sliced while it is still warm and served with a good slathering of butter, heavy sprinkling of white sugar, and a few hearty dashes of cinnamon. This bread is best the day it is baked. Someday I will make this recipe and will set the machine to cease at the "dough" cycle and continue the process in the oven as sweet rolls. GOOD STUFF!

Really good, but I had several issues with it (you need to understand that I am Portuguese myself and I live in an area where lots of great Potuguese sweet bread is made, so needless to day I'm a little particular.) First of all, this is yummy but NOT SWEET ENOUGH TO BE PORTUGUESE SWEET BREAD. I increased the sugar to 1/2 cup and it still wasn't enough. I think I'll try 3/4 or even 1 cup next time. Also the dough is wayyyy too watery. Either decrease the milk or plan on adding 1/2 cup more flour to the dough. And my personal opinion is that it comes out much better when you bake the dough in the oven instead of the bread machine. Thanks for the recipe!!

This is one of my favorite bread recipes on here. I mixed everything in my Kitchen Aid and baked in the oven. I didn't change a thing; this is perfect as is. I should have taken a picture...the loaf was beautiful - like ones you see in a bakery. Thanks for sharing this recipe - we'll be making this often!

Made as directed except I added a couple of tablespoons of honey. Did not warm any ingredients up and it turned out great. Was on the large side for my machine just barely grazing the top lid. Tastes just like the rolls from Bob Evans restaurants. Yum!
