Wonderful recipe. My wife and 4 year old do not like cooked apples, so I used fresh sliced mushrooms instead. Great flavor, pork comes out nice and tender.

I bake almost the same dish, except I substitute one 12oz can of beer for the broth....Also a recipe given to me by a German friend.

Very tasty and I didn't even use all of the ingredients! I substituted the caraway and celery salt (only because I didn't have either) for onion and garlic powders. I only simmered the 30 minutes instead of 45 and I added the apple pieces and sauerkraut for the last 15. It all simmered together with plenty of chicken broth left for juicy, tasty chops! The bacon pieces topped it off and my family loved it!

My Husband loved it!! It has become a favorite at our house!! When I cooked it one night when we had the extended family over my 84 year old mom said it tasted just like what her grandmother who was from Germany used to cook.. love it!!!

Apart from omitting the celery seed - didn't have any, and I'm not a huge fan anyway - I made this as written, and it turned out nicely. The flavors came together very well, even the apple which I had been a little bit skeptical about. Thanks, Erika. I'd make this again!

Loved the recipe.I used a Fugii apple and Silver Floss bagged sauerkraut drained. The flavor was excellent I think the celery seed was that little something extra that made it taste so good. Lil

I followed the recipe exactly, and it turned out great. The flavors melded well together, and the taste was very mild - not strong like plain sauerkraut. The bacon added at the end was a nice touch. My husband loved this. I will definitely make it again.
