Poppy Seed Salad Dressing
SUBMITTED BY:
Gay Nell Nicholas
"My ladies group at church printed a cookbook several years ago, and this recipe was in the book, with no name attached. I serve it over mixed greens, drizzle it over sliced tomatoes and cucumbers and even use it as a dressing for coleslaw. -Gay Nell Nicholas, Henderson, Texas"

Very good. I also decreased the sugar to a bit over 1/2 cup and the oil to 3/4 cup.

Loved this recipe - it was as good as any poppy dressing I've had! As one other reviewer mentioned, the longer you refrigerate it, the better the flavors meld. This is especially true for the onions. I'd recommend storing it at least overnight if possible.

This is a good recipe. I took the advice of other reviewers and cut the sugar down to 2/3 cup - I might even cut it to 1/2 cup the next time (although it might mellow with time). ÃŽ found the dressing too thick, so whisked in 1/3 cup water and it turned out well.

Fantastic! Just the right amount of sweet and tangy. I used it on a spinach salad and everyone loved it. Can't wait to make cole slaw with it. Thanks

Absolutely fantastic. I served it over a spinach salad with peaches and toasted pecans. My guests liked it more than the meal! I also use it with cole slaw. Delicious! Definitely a keeper!

This salad dressing was well recieved, but in the future I would definitely cut the sugar back to maybe 2/3 or 1/2 a cup. When I suggested that at the dinner table, everyone agreed although the dressing was tasty it was a bit sweeter than we'd like. Side note: I served this over a spinach salad for guests about 5 days after making the dressing. For whatever reason the sweetness was tempered and the dressing was delicious - it was actually the most raved about part of dinner!

Wow! I cut back on the sweetness and used a sugar substitute due to dietary constraints. I used the sugar sub that is measured as sugar and used 1/2 cup. Could have used less. The combination of ingredients is delicious. But NOT as good as Renees, inspite of sugar....

Delicious! This clung to the salad perfectly, it was just the right viscosity. This was almost like the vidalia onion salad dressing they sell in the store. I loved this and will most definitely make this again plus I'm sending my MIL a copy of the recipe b/c she is the one who first introduced me to vidalia onion dressing anyway. This made a large amount for a fraction of what you'd pay for storebought, plus I like knowing what is in it, and it is free of additives, artificial colors, and flavors. I used just a little less than a quarter of a vidalia onion to make this. Son and DH wouldn't even try it. I thought this was a bit sweet, but easily 5 stars. Thanks Gay Nell, this is a fabulous onion-poppyseed dressing!
