Sweet dark plums are wrapped in a potato dough, and boiled before rolling in sweetened toasted bread crumbs. My Austrian grandmother made these delicious dessert dumplings for us every fall. These take some time to make, but to me, they're well worth the effort.

I can never resist a tart, tempting slice of this beautiful pie. It's a down-home dessert that makes any meal special. This pie is a terrific way to put bountiful summer plums to use. --Michelle Beran, Claflin, Kansas

The crust for this is amazing, combining luscious things like sour cream, heavy cream, butter, heaps of sugar and lemon zest. When it 's rolled out and fitted into a pie tin, it 's filled with sugared plums sprinkled with nutmeg and cinnamon. Then it 's topped with a brown sugar and spice streusel, and baked.

We have a plum tree in our yard, and some years it's so full of fruit that its branches have to be propped up. I always make one or two tarts to freeze for later.

Blueberries are baked into this adaptation of the traditional French dessert made with fresh cherries called 'clafoutis.' When other kinds of fruit are used, the dessert is called a 'flognarde.' By either name, the light, custard-like batter, similar to pancakes, is divine with fresh fruit.

This is a great cake for those who find the usual cakes too filling. This is great for entertaining as well as for the family. If this cake stays more than 24 hours, it should be kept refrigerated.
