This is such a wonderful receipe, I swapped out raisins for mini chocolate chips and the bars are filling and delicious. One pan makes about 18 bars! Sharie (Chico, CA)

Greeeeeeeeeeeeat recipe. I followed other users' suggestions and my granola bars came out REALLY good! Lowered the brown sugar to 1/2 cup, added 1/4 cup peanut butter & 1/3 cup pumpkin seeds; didn't spread the batter onto the whole 9x13 baking sheet, instead, I did a half an inch height / 9"x9" square (it stays exactly where you extend it) and baked it for 25 minutes. Delicious granola bars!

Very good recipe. I made a few changes- added about 1/4 cup crunchy peanut butter, some toasted almonds, cranberries and dried blueberries. I baked them for about 25 minutes, then scored the bars, put them back in for about 5 min then took them out and let them cool for 5 minutes and then finished cutting them. They turned out great- I will definitely make again and will play around with different ingredients for slightly different flavors.

Awesome and easy-peasy. My husband is a contractor and this is an easy snack to slip in his lunch that will keep him going through the afternoon but he can eat on the fly. I added banana and more nuts - whatever I had in the cupboard.

these are really good. I made a few modifications. added some flax oil and flax meal and I made these peanut butter chocolate bars by adding chopped peanuts and peanut butter then topping them with melted chocolate. Very yummy!

Fantastic! Following the advice of others I cut sugar down to 1/2 cup, put in 1 full (rounded) teaspoon of cinnamon and used 1 and 1/4 cup of raisins (and will use more next time!). I added 1/4 cup of milled flax seeds. I used wheat flour instead of white. Canola oil instead of vegetable. Baked for 25 mins and voila! Like others have said, do watch this while in the oven. I checked once at 20 mins and then at 25 mins. As soon as it turns golden brown around edges, its done! 3 year old and hubby devoured these. I am going to make another batch (only 24 hrs after making the first batch).

Wow! These are seriously good. I will be making these a lot because my 1 and 3 year old ate them up and my husband loved them too. They taste like an oatmeal cookie, but even better. I loved the consistency. I followed everything pretty much right on, except I did half raisins / half cranberries. I really liked mixture of sweet and tart and will prob do that again. 30 minutes is way too long to bake and you do need to watch to make sure the edges are not too brown. I had to cut away part of the bars that were overdone. Yum!!

I love this recipe and after making it dozens of times now, I have been able to tweak it to make it a bit more healthy. Here is what I change - I use whole wheat flour in place of all purpose (adds a little fiber). Reduce brown sugar to 1/2 C. Reduce the veg oil to 1/4 C. Reduce honey to 1/4 C. Add 1/4 C flax seed. Add one large ripe banana, mashed. Add 1/3 C applesauce (I use the all natural Motts, no sugar added). I always omit the raisins because my son doesn't care for raisins, but I increase the cinnamon a bit (to taste) and add chopped dried apple. Even without the dried apple, they are good. Occasionally, I will omit the cinn. and apple, and add about 1/3 cup mini-chips (not quite as healthy, but delicious!). I also bake them in a mini-muffin pan so they are pre-portioned. Bake for 18 minutes. Makes 24. I forgot to add that my 1 and 2 year olds LOVE these. Before my daughter turned one I substituted pure maple syrup for the honey. My two year old asks for them all day every day! My husband eats them daily as well. I make them at least once a week.

These powered my walking group through the last of a 17 mile walk. I also reduced the sugar to 1/2 cup, and added 1/2 cup applesauce. I made one and a half batches and it made a nice, thick bar in a 13x9 pan. My kids loved them too. Feel free to add nuts, sunflower seeds, craisins, etc., they only get better.

The first time I made these I took the recommendation of another reviewer and left about two inches of the pan. The problem was that these bars spreadout so there was a bit of the ends that burned and I had to throw it out. The rest was amazing though a bit oily and the mix did not stick together well. I left out about 1.5 TBS of oil next time and spread the mix over the pan evenly, not leaving the 2 inches of space. I didn't really think that they turned out. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but next time, I'll go with my original modifications and I'll probably make this often! Great breakfast, love the wheat germ addition!

My kids really liked these. I used dried cherries (as we live in Michigan where cherries are abundant), and they turned out perfectly. I followed the advice of other reviewers and left roomon the sides of my pan, which left them chewy and moist. Very good recipe. I will be making these again and again for my son's lunches.

I have made these several times now due to the request of my children = HUGE hit with the kids and Hubby! They are so easy to make, healthy, under weight watchers plan 1 serving is 2pts and very easy to take on the go to soccer games! I added about 1/4 cup mini semi sweet chocolate chips and used whole wheat flour instead of all purpose flour. You can add anything to this recipe! This is a winner and I will be making this weekly!

We didn't like these at all. Like other reviewers said, they're too "cakey". Texture was just like an un-risen cake. I won't be making these again. Edit: I just made the "Easy Granola Bars" and they are so much better! They have the texture of a real granola bar and taste good, too.

I've never been a granola bar fan, but these may just change my mind. I used the optional raisins, and eliminated the wheat germ as I didn't have any. Also used whole wheat flour. They turned out very chewy, which we loved. Next time I will sub whole wheat flour for the wheat germ (or get to the store to buy some) to see how it turns out. The husband has requested trying dried blueberries, which I'll do tonight. Quick, easy, and way better than the $2.50 for an 8 count variety. Definitely a keeper.

Thank you for this recipe!! These are wonderful - they not only taste great, but you can control the ingredients to make them as healthy as you like. I replaced the raisins with chocolate chips (and sometimes a combination of chocolate and peanut butter chips), and used whole wheat flour instead of white. Most importantly - my kids love them - they take them to track practice after school, and they have come home with several requests from their friends to send more to share. I'll never buy granola bars again!
