These are super easy to throw together and taste great! I left out the raisins and the recipe yielded 14 nature-valley-size bars. I only baked mine for 25 minutes before they turned golden. Next time I will cut the sugar down to 1/2 cup and increase the amount of oats. Thanks for the great recipe! UPDATE: I've made these 3 times now. I omit the raisins, up the oats to 2 1/2 cups and keep all other measurements the same. Perfect!

Love these! So verstile too, I'm sure you can put dried fruit and/or nuts and they would taste awesome!

Good recipe for granola bars, but they turn out very thick and heavy. I do like the versatility, as you can add whatever fruits/nuts you have around in your kitchen.

Have made these twice now, made quite a few substitutions both times. I added bran, gojo berries, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, coconut, whey powder, coconut oil, cranberries, peanuts. It's funny but my kids will eat anything I bake so why not make them as healthy as possible!! Excellent

Oh WOW! I made these in the morning and I had eaten 3 by lunchtime! I don't think I can go back to store bought granola bars. I reduced the sugar to 1/2 cup as others reviewers suggested and they were still plenty sweet. And instead of raisins I used dried cranberries and walnuts. When spreading them out, I left 1.5" space in the pan so they would be nice and chewy as suggested by another reviewer. These will be a staple around my house.

I wanted to like these but they are only OK. I added some extra applesauce, apricots & chocolate chips but it still seemed like it was missing something.

My family thought thes were delicious. I put dried cranberries, apricots, and slivered almonds in mine. I am going to make some more tomorrow. This is a very good recipe!

These came out 5+stars the first time I made them and more like 3 stars the 2nd time...I obviously did something wrong the second time, but these are worth a try. These lend themselves to some very easy substitutions too, depending on what's in your pantry.

First, I took the advice of some of the other reviewers and cut the brown sugar to 1/4 and added apple sauce so they would not dry out as fast. They turned out really cakey, not what I like in granola bars. I like granola bars where you can taste the oats and the flour totally overpowered the oats. I threw them out. Just not a recipe that fits what my husband and I think of as granola bars. I think I will take the advice of another reviewer and try the Gobble Up Granola Snacks from this site.

I added dried cranberries and walnuts. I felt 30 minutes was way too long. I had to pull them out at 19 minutes. Love the idea I can play around with the recipe and make many varities.

Great bars! Easy to make. Great out of the oven warm! I changed the recipe a bit. I used 1/2 cup oil and 1/2 cup applesauce. I used flax seed instead of wheat germ. My kids loved these bars! I will store in plastic and share w/ preschool friends.

I wasnt that impressed when I first tasted them. But when they cooled, and I ate 5 bars, I decided I liked them alot! I cooked them for 20 mins. Definately long enough! I think this is a good base recipe that you could alter MANY different ways and not mess up. I used 1/2 ap flour and 1/2 wheat. I didnt have wheat germ so I used part flax seed and part wheat bran. I used SPlenda brown sugar instead. I used dates instead of raisins. Based on other's suggestions, I cut them while they were hot and stored in plastic container. Still soft day after. I am not a huge granola bar fan, but do like oatmeal. Really enjoyed these bars.

Wonderful recipe! I made a few changes to suit my taste. I upped the cinnamon to a heaping 1/2 T. since we love it so much. Also omitted the oil and put in 1/2 C. of applesauce and also added 1/4 C. of peanut butter. I also used quinoa flour and some vanilla flavored rice protein powder for added protein. Since the protein powder was vanilla flavored, I omitted adding extra vanilla. I also added 1/2 C. of ground flax seed and reduced the brown sugar to 1/2 C. They taste like an oatmeal raisin cookie! Yum! I've also made these with pumpkin puree instead of applesauce and added pumpkin pie spice. This recipe is so versatile, you can pretty much do anything with it. Thanks for sharing!

I think these are so wonderful!!! I didn't have wheat germ, so I left that out. I used ground flax seed, used half whole-wheat flour and used a combination of choc. chips and raisins (more choc. chips). We loved them and so did our group! It's such a versatile recipe!
