Instead I used 1/4 c. syrup,no salt b/c nuts had salt,2tbs. butter,1/2 tsp.baking soda, 1/2 extract and 1/2 c. water. I cooked it in a saucepan over high heat about 15 or less mins. then I added nuts, then baking soda vanilla mix. next time i'm making it as written. thanks. oh and it turned out chewy.
