"The addition of cornmeal to the biscuit mixture gives a nice change of pace to these spiral-wrapped hot dogs. 'Kids love dipping them in ketchup and mustard,' Katie comments."

DIRECTIONS
In a bowl, combine biscuit mix, cornmeal and water just until moistened. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead 5 times. Roll out into a 10-in. square; cut into 10 strips. Starting at one end, wrap each strip in a spiral around a hot dog; pinch ends. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 425 degrees F for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

Great recipe because it's so simple. Didn't have biscuit mix, so I used a buttermilk biscuit recipe. It made exactly 10 hot dogs. I used cornmeal to flour the board as suggested to add a little texture. Cut out 10 biscuits so you have a consistent amount. I wrapped the biscuit around the hot dog, then rolled it between my hands to lengthen it. That really made it easier than trying to coax the dough around it. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake according to what your normal biscuit recipe calls for (mine is 12-15 minutes at 450 degrees.) These came out perfect--Make extra! Thanks for this simple recipe, it's a winner.

MMM Delicious! But I did not quite follow the recipe to a T. I used Vienna sausages from the tin instead of regular hot dogs and like another reviewer I made homemade biscuits (because I never have frozen ones on hand) and added in the 2 tbsps of cornmeal into the mixture. I also sprinkled a bit of cornmeal to roll it out. I wrapped them up and baked at the specified time for the biscuit recipe. They came out so delicious and the biscuit was very flaky, the sausage nice and soft! I decided to have them with Fry Sauce (recipe also found on this website) What a combo! I'd recommend trying these!

My children raved about these! I have made these a couple of times, and the first time I made them as written, but the second time, I added a bit more cornmeal, for a greater cornmeal taste. I use the Biscuit Baking Mix that is found on this site, and replace the shortening with canola or olive oil.
