I have a similar recipe, but it calls for chopped onion, a pound of lean hamburger & a pound of bacon. Also a little vinegar. I've never seen anybody who didn't like it!

Thanks Jill, great recipe. I'm also not a big fan of Lima beans but they were good in this recipe. I had part of a pork roast left over and I shredded it and added it to the beans. Turned out great! Thanks again!

I have substituted soy bacon and/or ground soy because I cannot eat red meat. The flavor does not suffer with the soy substitutions. I have also added black beans, to give it more color. This dish is a favorite at family gatherings.

My family has used this recipe for decades but with 1 tsp dry mustard. We love it and friends beg me to bring it to cook outs.

So easy to make and tastes great! I baked as directed and then put in the slowcooker to serve with ham. No complaints here!

Always a favorite! You can also add browned ground beef to the mixture along with some dry mustard for extra flavor. It makes a great main dish too!
