1/2 cup shortening
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 cup persimmon pulp
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
These are wonderful cookies. I had lost my family recipe during a move and no one could tell this was not the genuine...I did have to watch the oven and bake a few minutes more...but that was probaly due to sea level....Try them you'll love them.

love these with pecans and cranberries!
As suggested by another member, I used cranberries and pecans when I made this. Also, I got lazy and made bars instead of cookies. Baked for 35 minutes and topped with cream cheese frosting. Delicious!
