Japanese sushi rice is the best tasting kind of rice. Plus it's very usefull because it's so sticky. I use white or brown rice.

This an awesome roll that has that great taste of pesto. Serve it with soy sauce, wasabi and pickled ginger.

Foreign Devil Fried Rice

My husband is Chinese and I am Western. Between the two of us we came up with this recipe for fried rice that is actually a meal in a bowl. I can do this dish in well under half an hour, and that includes all the chopping. This dish is good for colds, depression, writer's block, stubbed toes, insomnia, heartbreak, religious crises and general crankiness. It can change your life. Yum.

This is a traditional South African recipe, which comes from the great culinary tradition of the Cape Malays -- originally brought in as slaves in the 17th century. It's easy and plain, but great with meats like venison, corned beef tongue or any meat with gravy. Also usually served with Bobotie: There is a good recipe by Caryn on this site.

THIS SIDE DISH is compatible with any meat entree you serve. One of my friends gave me this recipe many years ago. I made a few changes, and it has been a family favorite for a long time. This secret of the tasty flavor is the chicken broth. --Norma Poole Auburndale, Florida

This is very easy recipe, with basmati rice and green peas. It is very mild and fragrant, and great as a side dish, or for those picky kids who don't like their peas. The word 'matar' means green peas in Urdu.
