This is OK but it's definitely not as flavorful as Libby's recipe! It was too bland - it needed more.... I wasn't impressed with this and Libby's is just as easy to make and tastes a lot better.

With all the fancy schmancy pumpkin pie recipes, you simply cannot beat this recipe for pumpkin pie that has been baking in American households for generations! Delicious! I used Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust recipe here.. used a little less shortening than it called for.. flakey and butter (using butter flavored crisco). Just SO GOOD!

Okay, I am shockingly dissappointed with this pie. I made it exactly as written and it was not bad, just okay. (It was made with The Best Ever Pie Crust from this site.) The reason why I was shocked was that I *assumed* with these ingredients it would be a home run. (Plus all of the 5 star ratings!) Maybe my expectations were set too high. Even my husband commented that it was "missing something." It had a good pumpkin flavor, but what was missing, I'm not really sure. More spices? Sugar? I'm still in search of a good homemade pumpkin pie. And I'm glad this was the trial run and not the actual Thanksgiving Pie!

I use the real pumpkin instead of canned, just cut the carved pumpkin up, boil it down just like you are going to make mashed potatoes, drain all the water out and then freeze until you get ready to use it.

Delicious! I didn't have sweetened condensed milk, so I made some by blending 1/2 c. hot water, 1 c. brown sugar, 1 c. powdered milk, and 3 T. melted butter. I used my own frozen pumpkin puree from the farmer's market. Great recipe!

Perfect basic pie. We love it! Next time I make it I will definitely up the spices - I found it slightly too bland for my taste - I love my pies flavorful. No change otherwise. As for the crust, I used a really good, foolproof pie/tart crust recipe: Rustic Autumn Fruit Tart, also found on this site. Both these will be on all my festive dinner tables for years to come.

This is so easy and affordable to make! I grew up eating sweet potato pie and my boyfriend really likes pumpkin pie - I never made pumpkin pie before today and he LOVES it! This beats out a store bought pie any day! I read several reviews and decided to add extra cinnamon, 1/4 tsp of allspice, and about 2 Tbsp of brown sugar. I warmed the pumpkin and the spices first and I used a graham cracker crust. I turned off the heat and opened the oven door after it finished baking to let the pie slowly cool in the oven so it doesn't crack on the counter.

Great recipe! I also had an unbaked pie crust that I put in the oven for about 10 minutes at 425 degrees so it wouldn't be soggy. I also heated the pie from the can as suggested.

Okay, so I changed it up a bit, but still felt the need to review it. I doubled the recipe to make 2 deep dish pies. I made it with 1/2 pumpkin puree and 1/2 sweet potato puree. I also doubled the spices (plus a little bit extra), added 1 tsp. of vanilla, 1/2 tsp. cloves. Put into pre-made deep dish pie crusts. Cover edges with foil or they'll burn! Very good pie.
