I can't believe my eyes! how hard can it be to bake a potato? I have a hard time considering this a "recipe". I have an even harder time believing that the author of this one came up with it on his/her own. People have been baking potatoes FOREVER.

I followed this recipe exactly, and came up with a regular ole baked potato. I know it wasnt supposed to be much more than that, but this literally tasted exactly the same as a microwaved potato that would have taken over an hour less time, and room in my oven!

Ok, I think I can make some pretty complex dishes sometimes, but for some reason, things like baked potatoes, boiling eggs, and making rice always fail! Thank you for getting this recipe "on paper" so I can now make one more simple thing correctly! LOL

I made this recipe last night to use the baked potatoes in the Baked Potato Soup. Just have to say the potatoes came out perfect and were the best baked potato I have ever eaten. Thanks for sharing!! I put each potato in a sandwich bag and drizzled the olive oil in the bag and rubbed on all sides. It was a great way to get the olive oil on all of the potato without getting a big mess all over the place. Will be making these baked potatoes often!!

The first time since we moved to the mountains (7300+ feet) that I've had a potato that cooked all the way. Thanks! I used sea salt. Will brush salt off next time before serving.

This was great! My husband's friends and brother were here from out of state, they just raved about the baked potatoes. Kids loved the fact that it smelled like french fries cooking.

SO GOOD. i followed someone's advice and put the potato in the microwave for 5 minutes first, and then putting it in the oven for 40 minutes at 350 degrees. Instead of using salt I used garlic salt and it was SO GOOD, it was like eating cheesy mashed potatoes out of a large garlic french fry.

This is how I make my baked potatos after asking a restaurant how they get their potatos so fluffy inside. They said the salt (I use a course salt) brings out the water in the potato - so it is fluffy. I do sometimes wrap in foil to bake.

I was really impressed with this baked potato. I've never been very good at baked potatoes, and these still didn't turn out perfectly, but most of that was probably my fault. I used 2 huge potatoes, and since I didn't have 2+ hours to bake them, I put them in the microwave for 6 minutes, and then baked at 325 for 1 hour 15 minutes. My husband said his was great, but mine was still a little firm in the middle. However, the skin was fantastic, and that was what I was looking for, as I really wanted to duplicate the potatoes my husband and I get at Outback Steakhouse. This was definately the closest I've come to that so far. So thanks for a great recipe, I'll be using it a lot from now on.
