Okay, I had a hard time rating these because the flavor is AMAZING, but I had to deviate so far from the instructions to make these work, but in the end, I think taste is more important, so I went with 5 stars. The flavor is truly FANTASTIC! Better than York's. I made these for my husband for Valentines Day this past holiday and he loved them so much that he has asked for them nearly every week or two since, and said that he can't even eat York's anymore! Haha. But anyway, this is what I did. I used all of the same ingredients (except I used butter instead of shortening) and followed the same instructions all the way up until the "turning once" part. I was not able to turn them, even after 1 hours and 20 minutes, because they were still not hard enough. So I just left them. Then, after that, I halved the chocolate/"shortening" mix and melted that down over a double boiler, but I had to add a little bit of milk to make them melt (I'm sure cream would be better, but I didn't have it and the milk still worked and tasted great). As for how much milk, I just eye-balled. Maybe 3 tablespoons or so? Anyway, once that melted, I just poured it over the patties and made it as nice and circular as I could. I put them in the fridge, where they need to sit for at least an hour. Then I get them back out, flip them over (which worked fine once they were cold), then repeated the process. I'd let them harden another hour at least, cut off the excess chocolate, put in a pretty container...done!
