make sure your chocolate/butter mix is melted just right and thin enough to coat the cereal easily. 2 cups of powdered sugar is plenty. this is just as i remember it from being a kid. yum!

What a fun recipe! We used a giant stainless steel mixing bowl instead of a paper bag. (To keep it more sanitary.) I microwaved the chocolate mixture in 20 second inervals until it was melted. I poured the chocolate into the bowl and mixed with a wooden spoon until combined. Use care not to crush the cereal, my 5 year old and I kind of kind of "gently tossed" it. After that, we added the powdered sugar (2 cups at first) on top of the mixture, and gently tossed again. I found that we needed a total of about 3 cups powdered sugar to completely coat. It's a keeper! Makes a lot. And I can see why you would use a paper bag, doing this in a bowl was messy, but fun! And after an hour in the fridge, it was ready to eat. Soooo good and easy .Also, we used Godiva chocolate which made it that much better!

Delicious as is, but cut down on butter like the Chex muddy buddies recipe to cut down on fat! You won't notice a few Tablespoons less.

Delicious! We made a whole mish-mash of sweets and treats this afternoon and "People Chow" was in the top 3 favorites for my family. Would be great with pretzel sticks too. Thanks for a great Christmas staple!

What a fun recipe, especially to make with little children. I have always known this as Puppy Chow. Thank you for the recipe and the memories it invokes. By the way, I never used more than 2 cups of sugar. 4 seems excessive.

Super easy to make. People snarfed this up by the handful! I think I will cut down on the powdered sugar next time, as there was a lot at the bottom of the container after the chow was gone, but it was no big deal. You sure can't hide that you have been munching on this either, as you are left with the white evidence all over your shirt if you are not careful. yummie.

Love this stuff. Made it for Christmas and the only change I made was to reduce the amount of sugar...way too much. I wanted to be able to taste the peanut butter and chocolate. I had forgotten about this tasty treat. Thanks for the post.
