A friend made this for our Thanksgiving several years ago. It is the best apple pie I have ever had. Perfect.

This is my new favorite apple pie receipe. I make a lot of apple pies as we live on a fruit farm and our main crop is apples. I followed the recipe except I used walnuts instead of pecans as we have a walnut tree.

Excellent recipe. I used half white sugar/half brown sugar on the apples and added some ground nutmeg and ginger and extra cinnamon (personal preference). After adding the pecans and caramel, I put the pie back in the oven for a few minutes to really caramelize the pecans, sooo good!!

Very Good! Important to use good quality apples. If you don't have caramel topping, make your own by melting caramels with a little heavy cream, then stir and stir until it's mixed and thick.

The crumb topping is wonderful--I just mixed the pecans right in the topping and cooked them too. I didn't use the carmel sauce, I think it would have been too much. I also used a different recipe for the actual apple pie and crust. I also use homemade canned apples (a mix of Wealthy, Haralson, and McIntosh--much better than Granny Smith). The canned apples work better in a pie than fresh as you don't have to cook the pie as long and over cook the crust. However, as I said before, the topping is WONDERFUL!

This is really good. I baked this pie until it was done and then I took it out of the oven and poured 1/2 jar of Tastefully Simple Caramel over it. I melted the caramel in the microwave for about 30 seconds so that I could pour it. Mmmmm. I put it back in the oven for about 5 minutes or so. This pie was heaping full in the oven and I was worried that it would ooze over but it didn't. My husband said it was very good. Kids really liked it too.
