Delightful soup made with chestnuts toasted in butter, chicken stock, vegetables and Madeira wine. You can substitute Marsala for the Madeira. Serve hot with a spoonful of sour cream and a light sprinkle of cayenne pepper. This soup can be made up to 2 days in advance.

Everything but the kitchen sink . . . well, almost, with this recipe. Green beans, yellow wax beans, navy beans, chickpeas, and lots of vegetables (the recipe inspires, the contents of your refrigerator dictate) come together for this hearty soup.

Parsnip, turnip, leek, carrot, celery, and dill all lend their flavors to this soup made with a whole chicken. Serve over cooked noodles.

This recipe for turkey soup with carrots, turnips, green beans and peas begins by making a stock from a turkey carcass. Canned kidney beans are included in this soup seasoned with thyme and fresh parsley.

Potato Soup II

Quick and easy potato soup recipe . Can double or triple it, and freeze for future. You can use just potato, or you can add the other vegetables. They give it color, and taste great. Decrease the amount of water for a thicker soup. Serve with cornbread or crackers.

This wonderful vegetable and lima bean soup lives up to its name. You must allow 1 1/2 hours of simmer time, and the lima beans must be soaked for two hours prior to cooking, but the results are well worth the time.

Garlic Vegetable Soup

This is a great tasting soup recipe shown to me by my Auntie Ethel Sabourin. It's a vegetable soup, but you add the garlic at the end to give it a strong garlicky flavor.
