Makes a ton! I halved the recipe and it was perfect for a couple loaves of yeast bread. Tastes a lot like the spread at the Der Dutchman in Marysville, OH. It seemed a little marshmallow heavy, so next time I'll ease up on that a bit. I did sub maple syrup for the dark corn, and it worked just fine.

This makes a lot. Mary Yoder's in Middlefield, Ohio serves it in squeezable honey containers.

EVERYONE LOVES IT! I was a bit worried about the 2 cups of corn syrup, added a little at a time and still decided to use it all.. subbed honey flavored syrup for dark, its what i had. Subbing this stuff for the peanut butter mixture on the quick little devils recipe! Thanks for sharing.

For me, this was just gloeified peanut butter. I'm not sure what I expected other than just to satisfy my curiosity, and I don't know what I'd put it on that I wouldn't put just regular peanut butter on. I won't be making it again, simply because I like regular peanut butter enough to put it on apples, bread, ice cream, etc. It tasted just fine, but I'd rather use regular peanut butter.

Maudie-I look forward to trying your recipe. We live in CT, but were in Millersburg last week where I discovered this amazing spread! I love it on ice cream so much that I haven't even tried it on anything else yet! Ooooh, the possibilities!! Thank you so much-Diane

Very tasty! I substituted maple syrup for the dark corn syrup because that's what I had, and it turned out great!

Living close to Millersburg myself I am familiar with the Amish peanut butter spread, and it is awesome. The only thing I did different was replaced some of the dark corn syrup with Maple syrup. Believe me, we go through a lot of this..toast, pancakes, waffles, hot bread, graham crakers, you name. This is so delicious.
