I love quick versatile recipes that can be thrown together on a whim, but with wonderful tasty results. This recipe is one of them. I had a butter pecan mix and the nuttiness complimented the flavor of the peanut butter. Used butterscotch morsels instead of chocolate. The mixture was the consistency of almost-set peanut butter fudge and was easy to spread into the pan. The result were these buttery little gems that present well. Great way to use up a cake mix sitting at the back of the pantry.

These are awesome bars. I followed the recipe exactly, but I felt guilty using all of the chocolate mixture, there was so much. So I saved over a half cup to use as an ice cream topper, since it is actual fudge. The bars are very rich, so cut into small triangles. I brought them to work to share and they were a hit. Good Christmas/holiday treat too. This reminds me a lot of a recipe I've made called Chocolate Revel Bars, but this is so much easier, using the cake mix makes it quick.

Unbelievable! These are, by far, the BEST bars I have EVER had! They were so moist, gooey, dense and just the right amount of fudginess and peanutbutter together! I will use this recipe all the time!

I followed this recipe as written and it crumbled and fell apart with each slice. I took it to work and very few folks ate it - those that did, didn't finish it. I must have done something wrong, but it was a complete washout.

My family loves peanut butter and chocolate so this one was a real hit. I thought it was easy enough and better than most recipes I've tried which use a cake mix. I did increase the peanut butter by about a half cup.

I thought this was great! I have been making easy dessert recipes from here for a long time and I have yet to be impressed...until now. This was so simple to make and tasted so good. It is a bit flaky, but that's not a big deal to me, so I liked it a lot. Thanks!

I am sorry to say I was disappointed with this recipe. The leftover mixture you are supposed to "crumble" on top is not able to be crumbled. When I baked it and was finally golden brown on top it had already burned the bottom of the bars and tasted terrible. I wouldn't rule out trying to make the bars again, however I would maybe suggest using less peanut butter so that you can crumble the mix on top, and would pull them out of the oven before they start to appear golden brown on top.
