Peanut Butter Brownies
SUBMITTED BY:
Judy Sims
"A friend of mine gave me the recipe for these layered brownies, but I added my own touch--chunky peanut butter. Every time I take it to a group gathering, I get requests for the recipe. It's a real crowd-pleaser! -Judy Sims Weatherford, Texas"

DIRECTIONS
In a saucepan, melt 1 cup butter; stir in 1/2 cup cocoa until smooth. Remove from the heat. In a mixing bowl, combine the eggs, sugar and vanilla; beat for 1 minute. Combine flour and salt; gradually add to egg mixture. Beat in cocoa mixture; mix well. Transfer to a greased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 18-22 minutes or until toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Place on a wire rack.
Meanwhile, place peanut butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave, uncovered, at 50% powder for 2 minutes, stirring once. Stir until peanut butter is blended. Spread peanut butter over warm brownies. Refrigerate for 45 minutes or until peanut butter is set.
Place the remaining cocoa in a heavy saucepan. Stir in the milk until smooth; add the marshmallows and remaining butter. Cook and stir over medium heat until butter and marshmallows are melted and mixture is smooth. Remove form the heat. Gradually stir in confectioners' sugar. Spread over peanut butter layer. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Cut into squares.

Um....sweet wise they hit the spot. However, overall I would not make these again and that is why they only got a 2. I do agree that there was way to much peanut butter. Maybe if it was made into a type of frosting by mixing it with confectioners sugar, butter and milk. As far as the topping, it never really set up and ended up being a gooey sticky mess. I would probably make the topping with melted milk chocolate chips or something. A great idea but really needs some work.

I've made this recipe once before, and it was absalutely wonderful. It took a long time to make, but was worth it. I added it to my collection because I plan on making it a lot more times!

Good brownies. I followed other reviewers suggestions and used half the amount of peanut butter. Next time I'll make them using my normal brownie recipe as the base because the brownie base you make with the recipe is more cake like than I prefer.

There was too much peanut butter for my taste. The frosting combined with the peanut butter made the texture sickeningly gooey. I think if i were to make these again, I would leave out the peanut butter altogether. The reason I gave it a 4 star and not a 3 is because my husband liked them alot. To each his own, I guess.

The brownies were good, but they definitely need a little work. There is definitely TOO MUCH peanut butter. I made these for my boyfriend who loves peanut butter, and he even thought there was too much. I would definitely cut the peanut butter in half. Also, these brownies are surprisingly rich. You will definitely need a glass of milk to get these down. I think the brownies will be 10X better once I make them with less peanut butter.
