Tried this recipe using frozen fruit, strawberries instead of raspberries and it was the BEST fruit pie EVER! I don't even like peach pie, but this was awesome!! The berries balanced the peaches so well!

My oldest son and I made this pie together. We used the Butter Flaky Pie Crust, which is also from this site. Instead of sprinkling the top crust with sugar, we used an egg wash. We didn't have plain frozen raspberries, we used a strawberry/raspberry/blackberry frozen berry blend. Instead of cutting a vent in the top, we cut a medium sized heart in the top crust before placing it over the pie. The baking time was a little off for us (we needed an extra 20 minutes) and I also tented our pie with foil so it wouldn't burn on the top. We haven't tried it yet, it's cooling but I do have one thing to say about the pie--it's REALLY juicy. Like REALLY juicy. I don't know if it's because we used frozen berries/peaches but wow, I was really surprized. I don't know that we'll use frozen fruit again. I did sneak a little of the juice from the pie and it seemed perfectly sweetened to me. I'll update my review once we've had a chance to cut into it. UPDATE: We really liked this pie but it was very wet. If I make this again I'll make sure to thaw the fruit out better before using it or add more flour OR I'll use fresh fruit. I want to try this again. Even with it's extra "juice", this was a hit with my family and my oldest boy called this one a win for the third pie he's made.

Everyone loved this pie. I made it for Thanksgiving with frozen fruit, since peaches and raspberries are out of season here. Instead of making vents, I used a cookie cutter to cut out a shape (I used a star) in the center of the top crust before placing it on the pie. I thawed the raspberries in a colander for 1/2 hour as the package recommended. The peaches did not need to per thawed per package instructions. I had no problems with a runny pie at all. I baked it on the lowest rack, on a preheated cookie sheet, as America's Test Kitchens recommends.

This was a good peach pie. A good way to use up peaches. But I think I prefer a blueberry or apple pie.

I am not a pie person, but this recipe has turned me completely around! I substituted the raspberries with blackberries. I made it with the butter flaky crust recipe on this site and the end-result was excellent! My husband, our neighbor and I all loved it! I will be making this again and again!

Just made this recipe last night for my husband and all I can say is AMAZING. It turned out great and he has not stopped raving about it! This will definitely be a recipe I make several times over! I made it exactly according to the recipe posted and it turned out great. I did drain a little of the fluid off as I was transferring into the pie crust though. Wonderful find!
