I took this to the office and it disappeared in a couple of hours. A keeper! Like other reviewers, I used peaches in lite syrup, used only half the juice, sprinkled cinnamon over the peaches before putting on the cake mix, and sprinkled brown sugar and cinnamon on top. I put the butter in the freezer and shredded it before putting on the cake. I think slicing it would work too. This comes out way more like a cobbler than a cake, but so incredibly simple and so incredibly delicious. Next time I'll serve with vanilla ice cream. YUMMY!

Going middle of the road on this one for several reasons ... and a suggestion. First, it is very sweet and definitely needs the cinnamon others have suggested. Next, the texture is neither cake or cobbler but somehow pulls off the taste of both. Overall, its an okay, quick dessert and what was expected from a few boxed/canned items. Now for the suggestion: I actually divided the ingredients into two square pans because I had seen a similiar recipe that included a small can of drained pineapple on top of the peaches with syrup, and I wanted to try both while testing. Weeellll, the peach/pineapple recipe disappeared with everyone coming back for seconds, but this version ... just the peach ... got left behind after the first sample. Maybe something you might want to try when you make your next batch. :O)

I made this using three large cans of peaches in light syrup, with the syrup mostly drained off. Then topped the peaches with a 1/4 c of brown sugar and sprinkled the cinnamon on the peaches. This made a large pan of cobbler, enough for a potluck! By using items from the dollar store, I made the whole batch for under $5. Definitely a budget dessert for a batch of people!

This is my ultimate favorite dessert. Easy to make, and better than any other cake, cookie, or pie. I'll be making this for a long time.

Yummy! I have made this twice so far, the second time I used the cinnamon to blend into the dry cake mix then after spreading the butter I used cinnamon sugar to shake on top making it a crusty, crunchy coating and that was a huge hit. We also found it is actually better the day after. I had it warm too & it was good, but once the cake settles and the cinnamon blends....yeah.

try adding a small vanilla pudding to the lite peaches..gives it more of a peach cobbler look. you can also try adding oats, nuts and brown sugar to the cake mix to make it more like a peach crisp.. using spice cake instead of the butter cake mix is not bad either. There is so many different ways to make this...but it's always easy and always good

Amazingly good! I took the advice of fellow cooks and changed the following: I used peaches with light syrup and poured off half of the syrup. I sprinkled 1/4 cup packed brown sugar ontop of the cake mix. I used *very* cold butter and a small grater and grated the butter all over the cake and sugar. This recipe is my new favorite.. I can not wait to try other fillings/fruits.. Thank you for sharing this recipe!

This a great recipe! I drained the peaches and also recommend to layer the bottom of the pan with a thin layer of the cake mix and pat it down. Put stick of butter in freezer as you prepare and then"shave' it, using a grater, over the top for a crisp topping. I mixed brown sugar with cinnamon and used that for the top, be generous!

Awesome recipe! In our case I took some peaches that were getting ripe and were not all that sweet and skinned them. Since there was no syrup we added maple syrup since we did not have corn syrup. And it came out to be one of the tastiest desserts we have made!

I've made this for years. I always melt the better as well. I also put a little cinnamon and nutmeg right in the melted butter. Lastly, I sprinkle a little sugar over the top of the cake before puting it into the oven. It's also great with crushed pineapples in heavy syrup and a pineapple cake mix.
