My family loves this salad, always requested!! I add shredded cheddar cheese & if I run low on peas I add cooked broccoli or other vegetables cut up small. I also add extra garlic and make dressing to taste as I never follow recipe and its always perfect!

I lost my recipe for this was so happy to find it here. My family doesn't care for water chestnuts so i replace with with cashew and I do add just a little shredded sharp cheddar cheese. Just couldn't remember the dressing part. thank you. I do use about a 1/2 cup of sour cream also not great at measuring

A nice change from mayo dressing. I liked the water chestnuts in the salad, but I would suggest chopping them into smaller pieces. Also found the salad a bit dry after mixing, so I mixed up some more dressing. Grated carrot was a good addition for color as well as to add another veggie.

This was pretty good. I think I put in too many water chestnuts. I would use less next time, and make up extra dressing, because it seemed to need more. It would also be good with shredded cheese added.
