I really don't cook a lot but decided to make this recipe for a BBQ. I followed the recipe exactly and it came out perfect. Everyone was surprise at how good this recipe was.

Excellent! I used only 1/4C. of molasses instead of 1/2C. and everyone loved them. Such a big hit-you gotta try them!

Much better than canned baked beans with a good balance of sweet and tangy. Well worth the effort and leaves your house smelling great! I used a pound of Great Northern Beans which I soaked overnight. I doubled the bacon. I added two TBS of BBQ sauce in addition to the other ingredients and a tsp of "Colman's English Mustard" powder in addition to the prepared yellow mustard. I baked them covered for only 40 minutes to make sure they weren't mushy and then I finished them uncovered under the broiler on low to caramelize the surface.

These were great! Good thing I doubled the recipe for the 8 people we were serving! I accidentally left out a can of the kidney beans and used only one can of butter beans (sub for garzbanzo). I thought they were a little sweet, but everyone else raved. Even the kids liked them -- great way to disguise some of those otherwise "funky" beans that they would never eat!

I tried out this recipe for a family potluck, and i didn't really think much of it at the time...i though it was good, but could have been better somehow...but anyways, everyone else seemed to think it ROCKED and it's now been requested again for another family potluck! Thank you! I now have a special recipe!!! YAY!

I made these for a work party, after reading other reviews, I opted for butter beans instead of garbanzo, and also cut the molasses in half. They turned out delicious. There were none left. I also cooked in the crock pot on low for 5-6 hours.. taking lid off the last 30 min before serving. They thickened up perfectly. Also, I made them the night before in the crock pot and reheated the same way the next day. They were great!

I thought these were really good. My husband's first words were, "These are awesome!" They are comparable to a BBQ restaurant's beans in our town, which closed down so we can't get them anymore. I made a few changes due to what we had on hand: 2 cans baked beans (pork & beans) instead of pinto and garbanzo, I used 1/4 cup maple syrup instead of 1/2 cup molasses, and we were out of onion.

WOW!!! These were fantastic. I made the exact recipe, didn't change a thing! I like to do that first and then tweak the recipe to my liking. I will not change a thing about this recipe. I did drain all of the beans, but also rinsed them and let them dry out a bit in a colander!

Made this recipe for a pre-wedding dinner. Folks raved about the flavor. I precooked the bacon, onions and garlic then threw it all in a crock pot. Worked great. Thanks for the recipe!

This recipe is absolutely fabulous. I omitted the bacon and the garbanzo beans (since garbanzo beans just don't seem right in baked beans) and doubled the pinto beans to compensate. I've made this a few times. It's wonderful. Moved now to my cookbook.
