The published recipe doesn't state it ( when I submitted it I had in the directions a 1 inch baking sheet ) and I STRONGLY recommend a shallow baking dish such as a cookie sheet ( 1" deep )
instead of a casserole dish. I think the finished dish has a better texture and appearance being just a little bit thinner. It will still rise up to about an inch and a half.. Today I doubled the sausage as considered by bookwormans below. Definitely not to much. Thanks for the advice.
This recipe was a keeper. Only reason I rated it a 3 out of 5 stars is because it is very thick. I did take the advice of others after my first attempt and baked the recipe in a cookie sheet. This recipe makes a lot and we had almost too much leftover. It would be a great dish for if you're having company over in the morning. Otherwise, everything was delicious and it's very easy to make.
I needed to use up some pancake mix so I used 2 & 1/4 cups of pancake mix, 2 tsp baking powder, 2 eggs, 1 & 1/2 cups milk, 2 tsp vanilla & 1 pound of maple sausage and baked for 20 minutes in a 375 degree oven in a cookie sheet that had been sprayed & preheated.
Very good and easy to make. I did use a cookie sheet and think that was perfect. If I had used a deeper dish, it would have been too thick. I doubled the amount of sausage (Jimmy Dean maple) and tripled the vanilla. I also spread butter on top while it was still warm. Served with maple syrup.
Great recipe, I added some Blueberries to it. Yummy..
This has been a great last minute spread the wealth kind of dinner that sticks to the ribs even when the times a beyond lean...
This is a delicious recipe. The only change that I will make next time is to double the sausage. It is great for either supper or breakfast. Served with syrup it is reminiscent of a sausage McGriddle. My family really enjoyed it. Thanks!
Loved this recipe. But definitely bake it in a jelly roll pan/cookie sheet. Kids loved it too.
