Didn't make the syrup, but the pancakes themselves were amazing! I read some reviews and made a few changes, but even without the changes they were delicious! I use this recipe every time I make pancakes.

We made the syrup only, not the pancakes. Also, we used vanilla extract instead of rum extract. The syrup came out great and saved us a trip to the grocery store!

I had pancake mix so I only made the syrup. TO DIE FOR!!! I didn't have the rum extract so I used real rum instead. I still have a little stored in the fridge. Next time I will definitely try the pancake recipe

These were terrific and what an inexpensive way to make pancakes. I won't be buying box anymore. The only change that I made was only added 2 T. of canola oil and used 1/4 cup of batter. Cooks quickly, so very fast to make. Thanks for the terrific recipe!

I just made the syrup and thought overall it was good. It was a bit runny for me and the sugar was a bit overpowering. I might make it again, but will also look for others to try.

I have used a similar recipe for years, and at one time I did use 3 tsp baking powder...up from the 1 tsp called for....then someone reminded me to check the date on by baking powder. Sure enough, that made the difference!!!! Homemade are always yummier!!!!

WOW! What a hit! These were the best pancakes I have ever made! I have never seen such golden brown perfect pancakes. The only changes I made were to reduce the baking powder to 2 tsp. and add a tsp. of vanilla. Thanks for the keeper Joan!

I made both the pancakes and the syrup. I halved the recipes to make one serving. I thought the pancakes had good flavor but were a little dense, maybe because I followed other reviewers' suggestions and cut the baking powder by one third. For the syrup, I substituted vanilla extract for the rum extract because that is what I had. The syrup was a little too sugary sweet and runny for my taste but definitely not bad in a pinch.

These were okay ... they rose very well, and they looked great ... but, they were really dense ... I like a fluffier pancake ... these were more like pound cake ... thanks, tho', for the recipe ... :)

WOW!! Great pancake recipe. My husband and I are trying to make more at home items rather than store bought things and this fits our bill! We have tried numerous other from scratch pancakes, but we will look no further. These were light and fluffy and wonderful. I didn't change the recipe any and they were fine. I can't comment on the syrup as I made the syrup I grew up having, but the pancakes were great. Thanks Joan!

Pancakes were nice light and fluffy. Nice flavor too. This gave me twelve pancakes. I used melted butter instead of veg oil. Syrup tasted like brown sugar and rum but went well with the pancakes even though it was on the thin side. I think I prefer the maple flavor to rum and a thicker richer syrup, but this was indeed worth a try and the pancakes are a keeper! Thanks for a great meal.

I don't like pancakes. They've always sat like bricks in my stomach and I've ALWAYS regretted eating them. It was my turn to cook dinner last night, and the family was howling for breakfast food. Pancakes, it seemed, were required. I chose this recipe, and I'm glad I did. These are VERY good pancakes. Not those horrible, rubbery gut-stuffing things I've grown to hate. These pancakes may well renew my faith in the pancake world. I will definitely make these again.

These are outstanding! They turn out nice and fluffy! I once suggested to a good friend that she make pancakes for dinner (since they were quick and easy), but when she said she didn't have any mix, I said "you don't need mix!" and gave her this recipe. Now she says her son's favorite thing is homemade pancakes. One thing I added is a little vanilla - enhances the flavor. I've only made they syrup once, but that was pretty good, too!
